About this listen
A detective duo with a difference...
Professional medium turned detective Claire, her best friend Sophie (a 17-year-old ghost) and their pals are enjoying a much-needed cheap holiday in an unfinished hotel on Spike Island off the West Coast of Ireland. Claire is flattered to be asked by the local ghost of a pirate captain to investigate the theft of treasure from the shipwreck that stranded him there several hundred years ago.
But just when she thinks she is closing in on the culprit, a murder takes place, and Claire and her friends quickly become the chief suspects. Can they recover the treasure, solve the murder and clear their names before all is lost?

Relatable entertainment
Such an entertaining wild story that although seems fantastical, the brilliant character writing makes it feel totally relatable and as if such mad happening may very well happen to you one day honour rubbish holiday. The story and its hilarious dialogue all suits any age and a clever feel good who done it. Highly recommend.

A romp of a defective detective novel
Compared to the first book this was a romp through clues, Claire finds herself more or less left to her own detective devices as all her gang go their separate ways for one reason or another. Contained a nice big betrayal, several murders and lost treasure, more detail fun on the nature of ghosts giving extra dimensions to their existence and motivations. I didn’t enjoy this quite as much as the first one but I think in time it’ll turn out to be a favourite.

A fantastic next step
Building brilliantly on the foundations of Grave Expectations the gang is in full swing and contributes more weight to the story, the 'rules' of ghosts feel more concrete and I can't wait for what comes next.

Enjoyable read, difficult listen
Story is great and well plotted. Maiin characters are enjoyable.
Narrator is pretty poor for this one. Awful Irish accents and bad pronunciation of Irish words. With the author living in Cork, I'd have hoped for more care.

Enjoyable story, awful accents!
Great story and generally good narration but oh my God, the accents were atrocious. Indian/ Liverpool/ Bad American Irish. Very hard to listen to as an Irish person.

As good as the first book, mixes it up nicely
Make sure to read book one first as this has spoilers for that scattered through out. It's actually to this book's credit that there are spoilers as because the last book's events have consequences and affect characterisation nicely in this book.

great follow up to Grave expectations
Good characters and different storyline make for an interesting listen. Only negative is personally i'm not keen on the earthy language in places.

Entertaining and imaginative
This second in the series develops the two main characters and their relationship, less so with the "supporting cast" carried over from the first story. The group trapped on the island and the resident ghosts are an interesting mix of personalities, and the mystery is an engaging one.
It's a nice change from the "norm" in a semi-cosy mystery to have two main characters who aren't actually all that nice and have a fairly disastrous lifestyle.
Excellent narration, helps bring the story to life.

Disappointing
I loved the first book, but I found this one really boring. The little mini gasps the narrator made at the end of each sentence became all I could hear and some of the accents were awful.
