Aus der Sicht eines im Ruhestand befindlichen Bützower Rektors werden die "revolutionären" Ereignisse des Jahres 1794 in einer bewusst antiquierten, altväterischen Sprache erzählt. Die vielen Fremdwörter, archaisierenden Wendungen und Schnörkel, die zahlreichen Zitate aus der klassischen Literatur werden sich dem heutigen Leser/Hörer nicht alle in jedem Detail erschließen, aber sie machen einen ungemein komischen Effekt.
