Summary

On the Texas border, a brutal massacre threatens to ignite a firestorm of violence that will destabilize an already fragile Mexican government and trigger an international crisis that knows no boundaries. The only clue, a cryptic message: The time for Destiny has arrived! Tam Broderick, leader of an elite CIA task force, code-name: Myrmidon, knows that the Dominion - a quasi-religious extremist group - is behind the attacks; now it's up to her and her team to find out what the Dominion's true goals are, and stop them dead in their tracks.

A fun adventure overall

I’ve enjoyed the other books in this world that Wood and Ellis have created so I decided to give this one a go. I really enjoyed the mystery unravelling and the race against time to stop the dominion. The characters continue to grow on you as the story develops with only one character really grating on me, Casey, as the story plays out.

If you love adventure in light hearted form then this will not disappoint.

A great start to a new action series

What did you like most about Destiny?

It's packed with action, historical mystery, brilliant characters and it has an excellent pace to the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Tam. A good Leader character but one that includes and engages with the characters that make up the entire team. Really good characters throughout the book!

Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer – was your favourite?

I'd say Tam still. The narration in general is great and I like the character narration in terms of how it meshes with the pace and the overall story. It made this good book very good to listen to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoyed the humour that's throughout the book and helps to break the tension.

The Dominion is on the attack, is it Destiny!!

Good book from Wood and Ellis, spin off novel from the Dane Maddock series, sees the newly formed Myrmidon team take on the Dominion. Fast paced action book, see some characters from Dane Maddock series with some new additions trying to stop the down fall of the US. Good first novel in a new series and looking forward to more, with a few cross over stories.

Well read by Jeffrey Kafer, he keeps the story moving nicely and delivers an enjoyable listen.

adventure

Wonderful narration from Jeffrey Kafer

This book is full of action, adventure, humour and great characters. Tam Broderick is an ex CIA and Avery, Danes sister and we meet Greg Kasey and Stone, we have action and history and an old nemesis in the shape of the Dominion

All adventures find themselves solving a mass murder of students on the Texas border and then an intercepted call that leads the team to Vienna on a quest for the Spear of Destiny it turns out that there is a secret code involved and a certain Generals diary and hunt for gold that takes us back to Pancho Villa’s Mexican revolution.

Exciting thriller

The plot for this story is quite an original take of two factions trying to find an ancient artifact that may lead to something with big consequences today.

The characters are interesting and are portrayed quite well with all their individual idiosyncrasies by the narrator. I had read another series by David Wood which also mentioned the Myrmidons team, but I thought that this was a far better story and more enjoyable to listen to.

If I do have a criticism it is that there are several references to previous stories involving some of the characters, but they aren't explained well and leave unanswered questions.
