Life-changing- now I'm a Christian Hedonist too!
This is a stunning work which totally revolutionises the reader's way of thinking. So many devotional works can be quite "woolly," or contain a lot of nice ideas with very little practical application, but in this Piper lays out a way of thinking which not only makes sense but also works in practice too. He supports the book with frequent quotations and references, which helps build the case in favour of the doctrine of Christian Hedonism, and also takes time to acknowledge and address some objections. Practical and helpful.

Amazing, must listen to this!
This was one of the best books I've ever read/ heard. John Piper is incredibly articulate and targeted in his exhortation to Christians to grow closer to God's purpose in their lives

God is most glorified in us...
When we are most satisfied in him.
If Piper is remembered for anything throughout the ages it will be this inflection of Joy that he has found in the saving Grace of Jesus Christ. If you only read or listen to one book (outside the Bible) that promises to stretch your understanding of your faith and to push you into internal dialogue with the Lord, this one should certainly be among the most recommended. I say a pox on all those who speak out against the Theology of our Generation. In 2, namely John Piper and R C Sproul we have the summation of 2 millennia of theological thought.

Read by a self righteous dry stick
Some of the content is good ie that our fulfilment is found in all that christ is and provides but the self righteous stickler tone of the reader does not portray the unconditional love of God. I agree with the other reviewer that chapter 2 makes it sound like Jesus was scathing of the woman at the well and only used her to shock people. Tone is awful. Not the tone of Christ I believe. I'm giving up on it.
