Summary
A monster wants her as his bride...and he will stop at nothing to claim her.
Gemma Hara is drowning under the weight of her father’s debts. Working herself to the bone, she knows that if she doesn’t pay them off in time, the sadistic creditors will take everything: their home, their respected name, and, worst of all, her two beautiful sisters.
To save her family, Gemma agrees to do something reckless: marry a wealthy and mysterious stranger, who offers her a wicked bargain she can’t afford to refuse.
However, his bargain comes with one terrifying catch. Because her husband-to-be is a Kylorr.
One of the most fearsome alien races in the Four Quadrants, the Kylorr are beastly monsters, all muscle and menace, with powerful wings, depraved cravings, and berserker-like rages. The worst part?
They survive on blood.
Cold and cruel, Azur of House Kaalium, the High Lord of Laras, demands Gemma as his blood bride. To feed from her. To use her body in whatever way he wishes. For paying off her family’s debts, he expects her complete submission.
What neither of them predicts is how his bite doesn’t bring pain—it fills Gemma with more exquisite pleasure than she’s ever known. And as she finds her footing on a strange new planet, the one thing Gemma thought she’d never surrender might be at risk after all.
Her heart.
Too bad her new husband can’t seem to decide if he wants to break it...or keep it forever.

Passionate enemies to lovers and arranged marriage
This is the first book in the Brides of the Kylorr Series, an alien vampire romance. Desire in His Blood is a passionate enemies to lovers, and arranged marriage. The characters are enigmatic and interesting. Gemma and Azur's story is original, steamy, and complex, filled with push and pull, angst, revenge, secrets, drama, and mystery. Gemma is smart, strong, and determined. Azur is revengeful, dark, and powerful. Their chemistry is sizzling hot. I liked to follow them in their slow burn romance. The world building is captivating. The supporting characters are intriguing. Marcio Catalano and Stella Hunter did an excellent job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Craving in His Blood, the next book in the series.

Marcio’s sexy voice!
Although the character was supposed to have a gruff voice and Marcio’s was smooth - it didn’t seem to matter cos I just swooned when I heard him! Plot was very interesting and a bit different from my previous listening. The two main characters progressed in a timely fashion which I found satisfying. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Interesting
This was an interesting story. The worlds were unique, the different types of beings, the different cultures it was very unique.
I liked that Gemma wasn’t afraid to learn about her new world and wasn’t afraid to stand up to her husband.
It was intriguing, a bit of a slow burn and plenty of angst and frustration.

Marriage contract, enemies to lovers, #SpaceVamps
When Gemma Hara agreed to marry a stranger to save her family she had no idea what she was signing up for. Her marriage of convenience quickly proved to be more than she bargained for. Her new husband Azur, the High Lord of an alien race, is cold and careless in his dealings with her, but new discoveries about each other start to thaw the frigid barrier that keeps them from truly being together.
This was my first book by Zoey and I love her worldbuilding. I think that the duet style narration was a great choice for this audiobook because so much of the story surrounds Gemma and Azur's heated and intense interactions. Marcio and Stella made it feels like I was right there watching these two snipe at eat other, and eventually succumb to their desires. So much energy in their performances and great timing. Their voices work really well together and keep the story flowing at a good pace.
I really enjoyed my first journey into this universe Zoey has created, and I really want to learn more about the rest of the House of Kaalium!

Fascinating & Entertaining! Great Story & Listen🎧
Zoey Draven takes you out of this world for another fascinating sci-fi paranormal fantasy romance! It is an original story with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The world building is fantastic, as is the character growth and development. Gemma, a human, the eldest daughter of the house of Hara, and is the one who is running the house and property where the minors work. The Earth Council gave him property as a reward for his heroism in the war, which includes a mine. Except his gambling habit is putting him in debt and he is syphoning money out of the business. Gemma is trying her best to keep it afloat, and when an offer comes with a marriage proposal, she thinks it may be the only way to save her family and the land. Azur of House Kaalium has his reasons for wanting to marry a daughter of the House of Hara and offers a more than a fair amount of money to get her. Gemma did not know why he wanted the marriage, but went with it to prevent her sisters from having to. The marriage was a business transaction and Gemma had to say goodbye to the family and life as she knew it. Azur took her to live on his planet, Krynn, and she did not receive a warm welcome upon her arrival, not even by Azur himself. I admired Gemma’s strength and determination to not let their treatment get to her and loved that she stood up for herself. Azur soon learns there is more to Gemma, and that puts a hitch in his plan. This is a well written and cleverly plotted story, there is a perfect balance of drama, angst, some action, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Zoey Draven, thank you for another great story and wild ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Zoey Draven chose the perfect cast to bring her characters to life. Stella Hunter and Marcio Catalano are wonderfully talented narrators and versatile voice artists. Their acting was spot-on, making each character believable and true to their persona. Catalano played Azur’s role perfectly, grasping his alpha demeanor and not afraid to show his softer and caring side. Hunter aced it as Gemma, grasping all sides of her personality, including her strength and determination. Both were just as fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhances an already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another fantastic listen.
