Summary

Im Cockpit sitzt ein junger Flieger der Royal Air Force, der kurz zuvor auf einem kleinen Militärflughafen in Norddeutschland gestartet ist und die Weihnachtstage zu Hause verbringen will. In 27000 Fuß Höhe über der Nordsee fällt die Elektrik aus. Jede Verbindung zum Boden ist abgerissen, das Funkgerät bleibt stumm. Eine Landung ohne Instrumente verhindert der Nebel, für eine Rückkehr zum Kontinent reicht der Treibstoff nicht aus. Als der Pilot schon mit seinem Leben abgeschlossen hat, taucht plötzlich eine uralte Maschine aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg unter ihm auf und bietet ihm Lotsendienste an. Von nun an vollziehen sich Dinge, die sich nicht mehr vom menschlichen Verstand erfassen lassen...
