Summary
It'll take more than his battle-hardened instincts to defend her....
CIA linguist Sabrin Harris's plans for a relaxing vacation went up in smoke when 26 hostages disappeared just north of her grandmother's house in Slovakia. Now, she's been called into action. Her mission is fairly simple. Not allowing herself to be distracted by the hot-as-sin ex-Australian Commando who's sent in to help and defend her will be infinitely more difficult.
Iniquus Security operative Ryder Kelly remembers Sabrin as the beautiful woman his dog picked out of the crowd at a tactical K9 competition. When they're assigned to work together, Ryder soon realizes he could fall for her just as easily as his dog Voodoo did. So, all he has to do now is keep Sabrin alive long enough to get to their happily ever after. Easy, right?
Their timing is all wrong. Romance was never part of the plan. But with enemies closing in, the fragile bond Sabrin and Ryder have formed might be all that allows them to save the day - and each other.
Contains mature themes.

Very enjoyable
This was the first book I read (ebook) by Fiona Quinn and I was hooked by her writing from that point, I’ve now read 12 and listened to 3.
I love her characterisations of the men and women of the world of Iniquus, and of the dogs, who often play an important part.
This particular book centres around Australian K9 handler Ryder, his young dog Voodoo, and their involvement with a CIA operation to locate a missing group of scientists. There are a few references to other Iniquus personal and operations, but nothing that would detract from listening to this as a standalone.
With an Australian main character it was a good choice to pick an Australian to narrate the book. Rupert Channing does a good job with different accents in this central European location. He is perhaps weaker on the female voices and I did lose track once in a while of who was ‘speaking’.
I do recommend this. If you enjoy it too, hop over to Amazon or the author’s website for a copy of The World of Iniquus Companion which gives you the reading order of the wider series along with character notes.

Good story Poor narrator!
I always enjoy Fiona Quinn’s stories. Interesting characters, a few old friends and a fine romance😍. This one was no different although I felt the narrator was wooden and not suited to this type of book!

That was another story full of drama, suspense and intrigue. I loved seeing Ty and Kira fall in love. I’m excited for more in this series. Wonderful narration too

Dreadful
Unfortunately this book was let down by the narrator. I really did not enjoy it like other books by Fiona Quinn.
