About this listen
World-renowned restorative yoga teacher Jillian Pransky came to the practice of yoga to heal herself. But before that, she avoided her feelings by burying them under a relentless "work hard, play hard" schedule. It wasn't until a devastating personal loss took her through the dark halls of anxiety and into her own health crisis that she was forced to stop racing around. Since then, Pransky has been devoted to studying and teaching mindfulness practices, deep relaxation, and compassionate listening.
In Deep Listening, Pransky presents her signature Calm Body, Clear Mind, Open Heart program - a 10-step journey of self-exploration that she's taught around the world. It centers on the science of Deep Listening, which allows us to pause and truly hear - often for the first time - what both our bodies and our minds are telling us. It kickstarts our relaxation response, calming muscular tension and setting the whole body up for deep healing, growth, and repair. It's a new frontier in integrative wellness - the new mindfulness.
With her self-guided home retreat, Pransky won't ask you to "be your best self," or "do more!" She'll ask you to "be here" and "do less." She'll ask you to pause and tune into yourself and will guide you, step-by-step, into a state of relaxation and openness. Her technique, which integrates tools like breath work, guided meditation, movement, and journaling, in addition to specialized yoga sequences, will help you see yourself as you really are. Once you immerse yourself in the practice of Deep Listening, the inner workings of your mind and body will become crystal clear.

Best used with Kindle book
I read the kindle book first and bought this audio version for the audio meditations to guide me. I open the kindle app on my phone and navigate to the chapter and meditation I want and hit play for audible narration. That way it’s much easier to navigate and find the section or meditation I want to hear.

Guided meditation, but not much explanation
The narrator's voice, and whether you like it or not, is a personal thing, but this volume is all about listening to the voice as it guides you through meditation, and the voice is even more important.
I struggled, I felt there wasn't enough explanation, which meant that the listener goes from meditation to meditation, without necessarily knowing why. It's a very clear example of where chapter headings instead of numbers would be most useful
