About this listen
On a crisp January day, a presidential inauguration day, a one-megaton blast ripped through the Soviet embassy in Washington, DC.
Subsequent explosions around the globe changed the face and the shape of the earth forever. Out of the ruins emerged Deathlands, a world that conspired against survival.
In the blasted heart of the new America, a group of men and women plan desperately to escape the eerie wastes and mutated life forms of their nuclear hell. Three warriors - the tough, intelligent Ryan Cawdor, an enigmatic beauty called Krysty Wroth, and the armorer J.B. Dix - set out on a harrowing journey to find a rumored enclave high in the mountains.
Their aim: to unlock the secrets of prewar scientific experiments that could hold the answer to survival in the Deathlands of the future.

disappointed
i cant really say about the story as struggled to get into it so the stars don't really count. have to do something to review. I was looking for the full cast graphic audio but this isn't really. I think there may have been the odd bits but it's pretty much just one guy reading like the normal audible book.

Not bad
If anyone is looking at this, or other books from the same publisher, and wondering what "dramatized adaptation" means in this case, i.e. whether this has been abridged, from what I can tell after comparing a few passages to the Kindle book, the descriptive passages are read as they are in the book like a regular audiobook, but the dialogue tags and associated text are dropped and the dialogue spoken by different actors for each character. So if the text says, "Hello," he said sadly, this version will just have an actor saying "Hello" in a sad voice. It makes for a pacey, listenable audiobook, but I wouldn't be happy listening to a more serious book that had suffered such a colossal number of tiny abridgements, especially if it was the only audio version available. The books themselves are okay. Very gory, very much of their time, but they ask nothing of the listener, and sometimes that's what you want. Good value having them all in one bundle.
