Summary

A pen pusher from Head Office soon finds himself pushing up the daisies...

Local police stations all over the Scottish Highlands are being threatened with closure and this presents the perfect opportunity for Detective Chief Inspector Blair, who would love nothing more than to get rid of Sergeant Hamish Macbeth. Blair suggests that Cyril Sessions, a keen young police officer, visit the town of Lochdubh to monitor exactly what Hamish does every day.

On hearing of Blair's plans Hamish is fully prepared to ensure young Cyril returns back to headquarters with a full report...but before he can do that, Cyril is found dead and Hamish very quickly becomes the prime suspect for his murder...

More twists and turns than the road to Loch Dubh

Where does Death of a Policeman rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

An excellent read, with officious policemen, criminals hiding in the shadows and twists and turns in the plot to keep even the most avid fan guessing to the end.....And who will be the love of his life????? The plot continues.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Death of a Policeman?

The final twist of the plot. The ultimate murderer unmasked...

Have you listened to any of David Monteath’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Excellent as with all of his performances.

Any additional comments?

A fantastic plot that kept me guessing all the way through.

But will there be a book to decide Macbeths ultimate romantic entanglement?????

Back to the old Hamish

Thank goodness David Monteath is back pronouncing places and names with a Scottish lilt that we’ve come to know well.

I didn't enjoy this one

I usually really enjoy hamish Macbeth but this one was too brutal and sordid. I listen to it at night and this kept me awake with horrible details
