Summary

Cliff Baxter is approached with a dream job, but it means time away from the man he loves and the family he’s only just reconciled with. When opportunity knocks twice and another unexpected offer comes his way, he and Paul make a decision neither dreamed possible, changing their lives forever.

Paul Monroe has everything he’s ever wanted - the man he loves, the respect of his coworkers...everything except the answer to his first murder investigation, the only case he’s never been able to solve.

Who killed Ginny Sweeten?

Follow along with Paul and his partner, Rob, as they wade through years-old evidence and piece together Thornwood Park’s most notorious cold case, leading to its startling and unexpected conclusion.

Fantastic pageturner - brilliant narration

This is the fourth and last book in the Paul Monroe series and that makes me a little sad. Sad because I fell in love with Paul and Cliff and I really regret that there are no more books with the two of them.
I listened to the four audiobooks back-to-back and I recommend reading or listening to the books in the Paul Monroe series in proper order. Yes, I fell in love with Paul Monroe and Cliff Baxter and now I will miss them both very much.

A.P. Eisen aka Felice Stevens has a special way of writing her characters. They are deeply created, act sensibly, the emotions are palpable and you can't help but love them. It was no different with Paul and Cliff. And if you're a crime fiction fan on top of that, like I am, it's hard to click stop while listening to this series.

I really enjoyed the development of their relationship over the four volumes. After some initial difficulty, the two live together and Paul is quite open with Cliff. The attraction is palpable and the chemistry is there. I love how they support each other, communicate their problems and give each other stability.
And there are new challenges this time, too, when Cliff gets not one, but two job offers that he can't possibly refuse. But what does this mean for his relationship with Paul?
Professionally, Paul has a case to solve that he and his partner Rob had on their plate years ago. Did I mention that the secondary characters are also absolutely adorable? I love Paul's partner Rob!
The case is exciting and you fervently hope that Ginny's killer is convicted.

The audiobook was narrated by Kale Williams, who has become one of my favorite narrators, as he absolutely nailed the characters this time as well. He reads with ups and downs, hits the emotions great, has a pleasant voice and a great speaking pace. Listener's heart, what more do you want!

Death Tells a Tale is - like the whole series - a fantastic page-turner that gave me many hours of listening pleasure. And I am now very sad that this was the last volume.
I requested a free copy of the audiobook and this is my honest opinion that I am volunteering
