About this listen
To commit the perfect murder, you need the perfect cover.
On a cold icy morning, a mother wakes to find her daughter’s blood-soaked body frozen to the road. Who would carry out such a horrific killing on the victim’s doorstep?
Straight off her last harrowing case, Detective Erika Foster is feeling fragile but determined to lead the investigation. As she sets to work, she finds reports of assaults in the same quiet South London suburb where the woman was killed. One chilling detail links them to the murder victim - they were all attacked by a figure in black wearing a gas mask.
Erika is on the hunt for a killer with a terrifying calling card. The case gets more complicated when she uncovers a tangled web of secrets surrounding the death of the beautiful young woman.
Yet just as Erika begins to piece the clues together, she is forced to confront painful memories of her past. Erika must dig deep, stay focused and find the killer. Only this time, one of her own is in terrible danger....
From the global million-copy best-selling author comes a totally heart-racing, hold-your-breath listen that will keep you hooked until the very last minute.

"Blindingly excellent ... These books should come with a disclaimer as once you start reading you aren’t going to want to walk away. This is a book you are going to want to feast upon and devour as fast as you can." (Jen Med’s Book Reviews)
"OMG what a story...you seriously need to read this one. I devoured this in one sitting, it is certainly one pulse-racing, nail-biting, gritty read... I thought my heart was going to explode...will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish." (Chelle’s Book Reviews)

Really enjoyable series
I’ve listened to the whole series this week. The characters are warm and intelligent (in the main). Their relationships are engaging and developed nicely. The crimes are varied and I like the fact that time doesn’t pass quickly, for example, one book ends just before Christmas, the next starts at Christmas. So while in real life, it would be dreadful (and hopefully unlikely) for officers to move from one horrific crime, immediately into another it’s enjoyable for readers/listeners to stay in touch with the characters I think. I hope there will be a book 7. I love books with strong relationships and these are characters I’ll miss though I’m going straight on to another new series so I’ll probably love those characters too. Fickle or what?!

Absolutely perfect
The Erika Foster books are about my favourite of all crime series and the latest book is one of the best. Ericka is a fascinating character who I have grown to really care about and the other characters, both goodies and baddies, are real and convincing. The plot develops quickly and moves in a range of different directions before coming together in an unexpected and very satisfying conclusion.
Jan Cramer is one of my favourite narrators, she really inhabits all the characters.
Can’t wait for the next one.

shame about some of the narration
the narrator is good with characterisations but story telling voice inflections really annoying. ending a bit far fetched.

Really enjoyed it
Great listen, with more than strand running through it. Very likeable characters, good narration, just the occasional awkward accent. Only detractions were the few instances when the characters spoke in a most uncharacteristic manner, as if reading from a reference book or policy document.
Well worth investing in.
