Great story annoying narrator

Such an annoying narrator. She sounds like she’s telling a bedtime story to a bunch of 3 year olds. How can the officers not hear that!

Average fiction

The characters where a bit jumbled up l felt bored trying to keep up The events where minimalistic A pilot in the attic A German deserter somewhere else It just didn't flow well Too many events Obvious that hat lady was collaborating but let it slide The narration was amateur

I do not recommend

Long, convoluted, dull and no real central story line. So unlike this author who I am a fan of. The narrator was absolutely fine

Shockingly bad storyline and narration

I’ve tried to listen to this a few times and eventually tried reading it but came to the same conclusion..it’s really badly written. The author introduces characters and events without any background and just as quickly subplots are dropped. It’s supposed to be set in WW2 Lot but the way it’s written doesn’t really give the sense of occupation. The characters aren’t well developed. Add into this mix the appalling narration (Florence sounds as if she’s about 12 and Jack sounds constipated) and don’t waste your time or money because it really isn’t worth the effort.

Terrible narration, couldn’t abide listening to it

This is the worst narration of a book I’ve listened to, so bad that I had to turn off after the first couple of chapters. So overacted, it sounds like a bad drama class.
It’s such a shame as I enjoy Dinah Jeffries books, I’ll buy the paperback instead.
