Stop the music!

The stories were OK - more prose poems and a poor man's Lord Dunsany than the main run of HPL. What spoiled it was the 'music', and the way it was mixed with the spoken voice, washing over and distracting from the slightly rushed delivery, making the complex threads of the narrative hard to stay on top of. Bliss when the dystopian aromatherapist's-room lift-music faded out - like a PC game you've taken too long to complete; cringing dread when it faded back in for no apparent reason, like a gradually swelling bad smell that no one wants to admit to. Do a version without music, and I might give it another go. As it is, it was a bad trip, and not in a good way, which I regret sticking with to the end.
