good performance

good performance, good voice acting ambiance, action noise all well done. stories predictable but still entertaining. documentary and music as padding was unnecessary and misleading timewise.

Great adventures

Great adventures, super old school but keeps you interested until the end.

It may lack a bit of description and goes slightly too fast imo but still a great listen!

Dan Dare updated from the Eagle comics.

Liked the idea of a more modern Dan Dare. Still prefer the 60's comics though. Well, we all have favourites (even if they don't match what we remember.

Great book

I loved it, great story performance and musical score.

Therr is alot of wasted time at the end just of music.

Some people may love it, I'd rather have more story

Last six or so chapters just music.

Would have preferred less chapters than tracks with only music...still i suspect it willfloat someones boat just not mine.

Highly enjoyable Space adventures with Dan Dare!

I was a Dan Dare fan in the 1950's he was the hero from my Eagle comics. This is an entertaining audiobook with an exciting collection of dramatised space adventures well acted and with excellent sound effects. For other original fans like me the modern attitudes and relationships of the human characters have changed with a modern retelling but the evil Mekon and Dan Dares alien allies are reassuringly familiar. Overall well worth your credit.

Back to 50s science fiction!

Really vintage sci-fi revamped. Full cast and well acted. Would love to hear more.

Not what I expected

What did you like most about Dan Dare: The Audio Adventures - Season 1?

Not much. As a former avid reader of the Eagle comic, Colonel Dare did not come across as the dashing daredevil I remembered. Instead he was irreverent and irresponsible. The other characters were good. The storylines were adequate but lacked enthusiasm, What disappointed me most was the atrocious sound effects which was like watching television with the picture off. They did not appear to relate at all to the storyline. In fact, they were more of a distraction than in any way contributing to the story.

Would you be willing to try another book from the authors? Why or why not?

I hope another series is produced, but I would suggest the technicians go back to sound school - try listening to superb BBC drama and try to produce something that at least resembles professional broadcasting

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I think extra narration would have been good. At least they might be able to explain what was happening during the sequences filled with meaningless sound effects

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

Try and change what appeared to be amateur dramatics to something more professional
