Chekhov's The Lady with the Lap Dog

The greatest short story by Russian literature's greatest short story writer and dramatist. Chekhov's Lady with the Lapdog exemplifies his mature style, bringing together human insight and sympathy, fluency of expression and a restraint which underscores the lasting impact of a seaside love affair on the lives of two otherwise rather ordinary people as they return to the constraints of married life in the snowbound north. Alexey Batalov reads the story with sensitivity and measure.
