About this listen

Famous killers have fan clubs. Hamish Wolfe is no different. Locked up for the rest of his life for the abduction and murder of three young women, he gets countless adoring letters every day. He's handsome, charismatic and very persuasive. His admirers are convinced he's innocent and that he's the man of their dreams. Who would join such a club?

Maggie Rose is different. Reclusive and enigmatic, a successful lawyer and best-selling true-crime writer, she takes on only cases that she can win. Hamish wants her as his lawyer; he wants her to change his fate. She thinks she's immune to the charms of a man like this.

But maybe not this time....

Would you?

Another very clever story

The subject matter didn’t really appeal to me, although I really like this author. Her stories are always fascinating, and she must do an awful lot of research because the subjects and characters always seem to be layered and real. This story is no exception, and although I did guess part of the solution, I didn’t get it all. The narrator is excellent as always.

really enjoyed

I didnt see the twist coming at all, til the very end, a couple of them. it was a well written book, easy listening, but didnt get too enthralled until way into it, but enjoyed it nonetheless. worth a read/listen.

A surprising twist

I enjoyed this book. It took me to about 2/3 of the book to realise who Daisy was but had no idea about who the murderer was.

Really good story

My second novel by this author and listened with relish. I actually guessed the outcome but not the complete ending as with both books, the twists seem endless. I actually had to listen to the last hour again but am still a little confused ... but that, I am sure, was Boltons intention. Perhaps a sequel is being written as I write, and if so, then I will use one of my precious credits in an effort to resolve my confusion.

Wow!

Any additional comments?

Wow! I never guessed, not an inkling... I was imagining a completely different ending to the one I got. This is the first book written by Sharon Bolton that I've read, but not the last. It's fast paced, exciting & keeps you guessing until the very end. It even had a bit of romance that was very convincing too. Antonia Beamish is an excellent narrator.

Worth a read but a little predictable ending.

Started off well and catchy but it soon slowed down and the storyline was obvious ..... maybe more because she often tries to end with a twist. However, I saw this one coming!!

Superb

I love Ms Bolton's Lacey Flint series and am now working my way through her back catalogue!

This standalone thriller revolves around Maggie Rose, a successful lawyer and author who specialises in appeals, and has an air of mystery around her. Hamish Wolfe, a convicted serial killer, wants her to take on his case. The book is paced perfectly - the first part setting the scene and introducing the character, and the last part speeds up and takes us to a thrilling ending.

There are some small surprises and one big surprise which I truly didn't see coming, though in hindsight there was one big clue earlier that I just didn't pick up on.

The book also deals with serial killer groupies - women who write fan mail to serial killers. It all seems very strange even though I know it's a real thing, especially in the USA.

A standout psychological thriller, well narrated by Antonia Beamish

Great story - not-so-great delivery

I really struggled through this at times - real shame as the story is good... Had to go back several at several occasions to re-listen to some of the chapters because I had completely zoned out due to the way the narrator was reading. Would almost recommend to buy the book and read it for yourself than bother with the audiobook version of it...
