pure unadulterated evil versus weakness

In rating this book the way I have I am ignoring emotions and rating purely the quality of the book and the writing. I think it's the only to examine such a book of pure unadulterated evil and weakness. reading this book it's surprising that any of us have relationshipes at all risking everything for a leap in to the unknown and yet we do and most of the time it works out. This is a horror about those times when it doesn't. It features a rapist, a weak mother and two half mad siblings. One mad with grief, hatred and blaming herself for her weakness. The other mad with the need to hide secrets and protect his sister who was driven to murder by her mother and the man she let in to the house after the death of her real father. it's an examination of human nature at its worst. written well enough it makes you want to hate them all for different reasons. The girl had alternatives which she did not explore and for that you hate her. The rapist of course and the mother for being weak. The boy is the only one free from blame. I liked it though. I will add only that the naration is poor. the reader often stumbling on his words and slurring more than once. ignore that and examine the book from a human nature perspective rather than an emotional one and you have an extreme horror without ghosts and zombies and all the rest right here it could be the family next door. You just never know.
