About this listen

Spensa's life as a Defiant Defense Force pilot has been far from ordinary.

She proved herself one of the best starfighters in the human enclave of Detritus and she saved her people from extermination at the hands of the Krell—the enigmatic alien species that has been holding them captive for decades. What's more, she travelled light-years from home as a spy to infiltrate the Superiority, where she learned of the galaxy beyond her small, desolate planet home. Now, the Superiority—the governing galactic alliance bent on dominating all human life—has started a galaxy-wide war. And Spensa has seen the weapons they plan to use to end it: the Delvers. Ancient, mysterious alien forces that can wipe out entire planetary systems in an instant.

Spensa knows that no matter how many pilots the DDF has, there is no defeating this predator.

Except that Spensa is Cytonic. She faced down a Delver and saw something eerily familiar about it. And maybe, if she's able to figure out what she is, she could be more than just another pilot in this unfolding war. She could save the galaxy. The only way she can discover what she really is, though, is to leave behind all she knows and enter the Nowhere. A place from which few ever return.

To have courage means facing fear. And this mission is terrifying.

I wasn't sure at the beginning, but loved it! I also love how the narrator does M-Bot, masterful!

Very Cleverly done and well written.

The book, the author's use of language and descriptive language, all resting on a pacey and exiting story

author its over committing and it shows now

I'm a long time fan this author, but his dragonsteel organisation has obviously impinged on his works, and this is the second where I feel like he's pretty much coasted through a story and we're left with something not up to par.
There's a lack of depth to this book, same with the other Reckoners book, where it's becoming obvious where things are headed, it's predictable, formulated process, and the only other difference is the other commitments he's now got.
Please Brandon, separate your core work from everything else, as it's watering down what you do, and I sincerely will not be buying any collaboration or derivative work, as it basically is having a negative effect on the core story.
Your strength lies in your writing and planning, and when you write half a story and let someone else pen the other half or expansions, it just feels like you limit yourself and lose pacing and world building.
Let's hope that the wax and Wayne books are back to the normal methodology, otherwise I may have to stop recommending you to others.

great book! though not one of my favourites.

I like the series, and the characters, but the whole fantasy setting and pirates in this book just didn't click with me really. Though I love the plot points presented here! alot! and Mbot is great!

exquisite

love love love

How will I wait until the next book? Such an enjoyable, well crafted story. the pacing is spot on, and the world building typically sandersonian. Couldn't have wished for a better narrator than Sophie Aldred, to me, she IS Spensa, as well as M-bot. I can't imagine anyone else voicing them. if this series ever gets made into a film or a series, I hope they preserve M-bot's accent! If you liked the first two books, you will definitely love this one.

Cytonic - fantastic

Starts exactly where book 2 left off. I’ve loved this series and it’s experimental worlds. The characters are easy to relate to and the storyline moves along a a good pace. Good ending. ***** 5 stars
