Loved
Great start to a new series and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book on audio.
Great characters and fabulous secondary characters. Hope they get their story soon.
I thought the narrator did a really good job with the different voices for the characters. This is a great storyline with lots of twist and turns. I love books with a good plot and filled out with endless sex scenes to fill the pages.
I would highly recommend...

Very enjoyable story and superb narration
I liked the world RJ created on the Crooked Tree Ranch and the range of characters in this relatively short novel. The city boy and cowboy contrast was nicely done. Life on the dude ranch was world’s apart from life in New York, yet Jay and his sister’s family immediately adapt to life in Montana and away from their home. I loved how the Todds and the Sullivans click and become a big family over the course of the story. The youngest siblings, Josh and Luke, are sweeties. Kirsten is a typical moody emo teenager, but she’s not too annoying, and Gabe is a great brother.
Both Jay and Nate have already sacrificed a lot on behalf of their families, so I was glad they managed to find happiness together. They make a cute couple, even when Nate is in a grumpy mood. Their banter and teasing are a fun part of the story. All except their first meeting—I thought Jay especially acted out of character here, although its purpose was to create some initial conflict between these guys. I’m glad this friction wasn’t too prolonged and their attraction for each other took over.
I liked the romance that developed and how they treated each other, although with declarations of love and ‘forever’ within four weeks it came across as almost insta-love and a little rushed. Although saying that, there’s was a nice build-up to them getting together and going on their first date. I would have preferred the story to extend for at least several months to give the guys time to get to know each other better and to see the result of the work Jay introduced. He was skilled at his job and I could see the marketing strategies he implemented being a success. Hopefully we’ll find out later in the series.
The angst surrounding Ashley and her ex added to the apprehension for the family's future. I was anticipating Henry to cause more trouble than he did, but my interest has been sparked with regard to the two missing sons. I was thinking Henry might have had something to do with their disappearance. RJ certainly packed a lot into this well-written story, but there’s plenty more that needs explaining with these mysteries alluded to and hopefully they will continue in the series. I hope we get Ethan's story and also more from Sam. Marcus is probably hiding something from the rest of the Todds, but what exactly? And who has ultimate control over the ranch?
I liked that the ranch was not totally out in the wilds—restaurants, a town, and schools were relatively near and accessible. My impression of the picturesque scenery and cabins makes me want to holiday on this ranch!
I always enjoy Sean Crisden’s style of narration. His voice and pace make for easy listening. He differentiates the male characters well, although his female voices are often similar. Still a great job and a delightful audiobook. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

When a city slicker, meets up with a cowboy...
When a city slicker, meets up with a cowboy. Anything can happen under the blue Montana skies...
Nate Todd knows things have to change for Crooked Tree to survive. He just doesn’t know how much of an effect Jay Sullivan will have on his life.
On the spur of the moment, with his life collapsing around him, Jay Sullivan answers an ad for a marketing expert on a dude ranch in Montana. With his small family, he moves lock, stock and barrel from New York to Montana to start a new life.
Foreman and owner of a third of the ranch, ex rodeo star Nathaniel ‘Nate’ Todd has been running Crooked Tree Ranch. His partners in the business convince him that he needs to get an expert in to help the ranch survive. He knows things have to change, but when the new guy turns up, with a troubled family in tow, he just isn’t prepared for how much.
I have to admit, that I have a thing for cowboys! *grins* And loved this, the first book in the Montana series.
Watching the love blossom in this story, is like watching the ice melt off the Montana mountains...once the thaw comes, the beauty underneath shines through.
This audiobook was narrated by Sean Crisden, and he makes the story just flow easily, with his sexy gravelly voice.
