Summary

Crashing the chatterbox = Overpowering lies of insecurity, fear, condemnation, and discouragement with the promises of God.

“I used to think that someone who struggled with the kinds of weaknesses I deal with daily was useless to God. I felt so often like I was drowning in internal dialogue I couldn’t control. It had been the soundtrack of my life for as long as I could remember.

Yet everything changed when I began to realize God has given us the ability to choose the dialogue we believe and respond to. And once we learn how, we can switch from lies to truth as deliberately as we can choose the Beatles over Miley Cyrus on satellite radio.

This is the key to pressing ahead and doing God’s will anyway, even as you are bombarded with thoughts, feelings, and even facts about why you can’t do it.

I will never forget this book!

Feels a little over the top to write this but this book has some truths in it that I know I will never ever forget in my walk with God.

Mr Furtick does Christianity so simple yet so passionately, so honest yet so inspiring. I am inspired to continue my walk with Christ in such a honest and inviting way.

You need to get to the end of the book to get this...I am ready to pound away at the chatterbox and I pray for strength and courage to never relent!

Completely transparent

I like the way you came all out in articulating what most people even Christians face everyday. The mental blocks that seems to keep us from reaching for all. It liberated me in places I didn’t even know to look. Worth a second listen and a keep.
Highly recommend it.

Just the right book for this pandemic

I initially read this book years ago, but recently I came across a Steven Furtick quote that reminded me of it and I thought that I would revisit it.

That was a great decision. And reading it in lockdown London, is the best time to do so! We are all struggling mentally during this time. Even if we don’t actually think we are, we are. So no matter how we were before this pandemic hit the world, no matter what toxic thoughts were our usual fare, they are multiplied now in this current situation! We need a way to address this and capture every thought. This book helps you to address this.

Stephen has a way with words and he has a knowledge of God, we need this experience because we need to fight the downside of this pandemic. Catching the coronavirus it’s just one of the downsides of this time, but there is an equally formidable other downside, which is: losing our composure. We are imprisoned, not only in our own homes, but in our own minds too and that is most of our problems. We need to crash the chatterbox in our heads! This is a great place to start.

Loved it

It was so good, I was looking forward to listening, one time I wanted to take a longer route home just so I listen to it a bit more.

Pick up your arrow and fire!

Steven Furtick is probably one of the few pastors who bothers to narrate his own story. This is captivating and so much better than hearing a robotic generic American voice even for books of English author CS Lewis! This story will prepare you to fight when you feel like you've got no fight left. To squish the Devils lies and to untangle the ghastly thoughts of daily life and traumatic events. One to read and you won't be disappointed. Thank you Steven!
