Summary

A new novel from this master storyteller. One beautiful Scottish spring day, Julian Custer comes across the devastating scene of a very recent car crash. Only the passenger has survived : Delia Barrow is confused and badly injured; her name is all she can remember. It seems that Julian is all Delia has. Luckily, Julian is a solicitor, and so begins a voyage of discovery as they try to discover the identity of the passengers in the missing car....

Enjoyed this

This was a free book on Audible plus catalogue. Not an author I had come across before . I really enjoyed it . Not a cosy mystery and not extreme , somewhere in between. I will look for more by this Author. Set in the highlands of Scotland. The narrator was very good .

Three hours in…

… and I am struggling. Narration is ok, voices and accents are a bit flaky. The story is far from a gripping tale, more a gentle amble. Easy listen definitely but certainly not a book to be listened to to distract you from anything else! I’ll limp through the remaining two hours but I’ll be glad to be finished.

Crash

Liked this storyline better than Silent Intruder. Well written and narrated. Worth listening to. I'll definitely look out for more from this author.

Dated and pedestrian

A reasonable reading of a poorly written story. The prose is heavy: clichés, repetition, stereotypes. In the chapter I just listened to ‘her background on the sheep farm”
must have been mentioned at least 6 times in as many paragraphs.
The plot kept me listening, and the narration. But the prose is dated and heavy with adjectives and off-the-shelf descriptions, so I will not seek out any more by this author.

Excellent story

A book with an exciting story line without too much graphic violence. Very well narrated by a man with an expressive voice. Would like more like this.

Entertaining to the end

One of the nicest books to which I have listened. I was decorating my kitchen... it kept my interest. I like this writer.

GREAT STORY, TERRIBLE NARRATION

If you can't do accents, don't attempt it. This book is ruined by poor "Scottish" accents which seem to gravitate towards New Zealand & Australia.
Just couldn't finish this! What a pity!

Great story, easy listen

A new author for me and I enjoyed this story very much. Good plot, not over complicated and kept you interested and keen to find out developments to the conclusion, fabulous to listen to whilst I run.
I’ll definitely listen to more by this author.

Not one for me

I stuck with it till the end but I don't know why.
Slow to start and fizzled out completely at the end.
The narration was done with one voice and each character sounded the same. I had no way of knowing when it was the female talking. Hence the low stars.
