Summary

Do you ever wonder why spirits take the actions they do? What if there was a system of rules they had to follow?

Clive Logan is a serial killer; or, to be more accurate, Clive Logan was a serial killer. Caught after a record-breaking streak of murders, he was executed by lethal injection by the state, while thousands of his victims' grieving family members watched.

That should’ve been the end of his emotionless and unfeeling existence - but it wasn’t.

Sent to Hell - where he enjoyed himself entirely too much - he was singled out to become a Spirit Core, an invisible spiritual entity that eventually ended up back on Earth. At first unfamiliar to him, his new incarnation slowly revealed itself to have its own set of rules, following something not unlike the video games he used to program back when he was alive. At its root, he was tasked with invoking fear upon his new victims - but there was just one problem.

Having never felt any emotions before, he had no idea what that meant. Contains LitRPG/GameLit elements such as level progression and statistics. Warning: The main character is a successful serial killer. If you enjoy paranormal movies such as Paranormal Activity and wonder how the ghosts and spirits operate, this book is for you!

The only terrifying part are the stats

This audiobook is slightly less scary than your average episode of Scooby Doo. If you are looking for something scary, this isn’t it.
The long litany of scare stats at the end chapters are incredibly frustrating and nonsensical. 200xAFC+2DMx34YMCA+127LOLS=WTF.
Only bloody mindedness got me through this mediocre “something” core story.

Interesting and fun

I was really pleasantly surprised by this novel. I think this book will appeal to a wide audience that are interested in both LITRPG and horror. It is well written and has a great sense of pace. Initially I wasn't sure, but after the first chapter i was hooked and could barely put the book down.

A demonic haunting from the demons perspective, with a levelling and progressive system.

better as book I think

not a bad story, but the amount of stats and their presentation was hard to keep track of. and I generally like stats
I honestly think this book works better if you read it yourself...

Sarah does a fair job and my only complaint is how she presented the stat tables

would recommend as book for the interesting ideas and concepts

Very good

Very good book and a unique take on litrpg. Good to see a horror from the ghost point of view. I wonder if needing to level up and unlock new skills is why in most ghost films the haunting always starts slow and builds up with time. Look forward to more like this

Enjoyable listen

I enjoyed the change and different twist in a dungeon style listens. Not something I could have imagined myself listening too but I am glad I did.
For the majority, I thought the narrator was brilliant, I just could not stand the way the stats were given. To quick and a tone that I could not actually listen to because it gave me a headache, so had to skip a lot or slow it down and turn it down.
Will def be giving the next book a listen as overalls I liked it and it did put me on the edge of my seat at times so hoping the next is better and the narrator takes a different approach to the stats.
Thank you to the author and narrator

Great book but less scary than I thought

If your into thrillers, you have to give this one a try! It took me a little while to get realy into it, but it's well written and narrated. Therefor I will still give this one 5 stars. The story was a bit mild for me but that's personal preference.

New angle on a haunting

Good book. interesting premise, novel approach to a... ghost story, for want of a better phrase. well constructed plot, and excellently read by the narrator. Looking forward to listening to the next in the series.
