About this listen
Sometimes inspiration is found in the most unlikely places....
To say that 15-year-old Cooper isn't thrilled about the idea of spending his entire summer with his grandfather at The Last Stop retirement home is the understatement of the century. The fact that he has to work there for the privilege of sleeping on his grandfather's couch only adds insult to injury.
The folks at the retirement home aren't too sure about him, either. His hair is forever hanging in his eyes, for one, and he seems determined to go the entire summer without uttering a single word. While they are trying to keep an open mind, Cooper is doing nothing to change their opinion that youth is just an unfortunate stage to becoming an old person.
But something surprising happens over the course of the summer, forcing everyone involved to reevaluate their opinion of the opposing generation.
In this, the third installment of The Last Stop series, the whole gang is here: Amato, the boisterous chef, who Cooper has the misfortune of working for; Byron, the hyper-competitive, former Olympian, who gives Cooper pointers on his less than impressive physique; Kelly, the much feared fitness instructor, who teaches him to take pride in even the most mundane tasks; Harry, the maintenance man, who teaches him the value of hard work; And, of course, Holy Moses, the facility's canine mascot, who's respect Cooper must earn.
There's a new resident, too, making his first appearance: Ain't He Something, a retired racehorse who provides his own very entertaining life lessons....
