Summary

Change is inevitable yet feared! How you handle change can define your leadership. Choose to be the leader who embraces change and takes their team to success!

In today’s fast-paced and unpredictable landscape, traditional leadership skills are not enough.

You have probably already worked on your communication skills, your levels of empathy, and how to handle conflicts within your team…yet there is still something missing.

To thrive as a leader in the modern workplace, you will need a unique set of skills that enable you to handle the rapid changes and challenges that are thrown your way.

Over just the last few years, we have experienced a pandemic, war, economic crisis, and natural disasters. It has felt and still feels like there is no end to the obstacles that need to be overcome.

While everybody needs to handle these changes, people are looking to you for inspiration and guidance. As if that pressure isn’t enough— your senior managers are also hovering over to ensure your team is functioning at its best.

The causes of rapid change are complex and even though events may not be happening on your doorsteps, there is no doubt that they won’t negatively impact your organization.

Failing to adapt to change only leaves companies trailing behind…or worse. Just look what happened to international giant names such as Blackberry, Kodak, and Blockbuster!

And their leaders had years of experience under their belts!

Fortunately, this doesn’t have to be your fate. You can expand your skillset and become adaptable to change with 8 essential skills to become a dynamic leader whose team continues to grow and flourish.

In this guide to modern leadership, here is just a fraction of what you will discover:

  • The 8 steps of the NAVIGATE method which turns complex business concepts into manageable and practical strategies
  • 10 change factors that leaders are in the midst of and what to expect in the next 10 years
  • How to handle rapid change as a leader and ensure your team is continuously building resilience
  • 11 technologies that will jumpstart your digital transformation and how to implement a plan that doesn’t create resistance from the less IT-savvy members
  • The best software and tips for hybrid work teams so that each team member can feel connected, valued, and productive
  • How to tackle a crisis with calm and confidence—even one that shakes the entire world!
  • The implications of geopolitical uncertainties, how to mitigate risks, and even seize opportunities!
  • What it means to promote sustainability with 6 real-world examples of the potential benefits
  • The ultimate guide to attracting, onboarding, and retaining the best talent for diverse teams that drive innovation
  • 14 techniques to unleash the ethical leader in you, reinforce team ethics and values, and create an unparalleled workplace culture

And much more.

As a busy leader, it’s understandable how daunting a skill set like this may seem, especially when you are already short of time. You know your team fears change so how are they going to cope with more?

The NAGIVATE method doesn’t add to your workload. Instead, it alleviates stress and uncertainty so that your main focus is on a team that feels respected, valued, and engaged.

Great guide!

The world changes rapidly, and the constant emergence of new technologies, especially AI, has accelerated this pace of change even further. I appreciate what the book says: those who survive are not necessarily the smartest or most skilled, but those with strong adaptability. Indeed, a few years ago, remote work seemed like an alien concept to many of us, but it has now become a social norm. The book discusses the challenges contemporary leadership faces, how these changes affect the workplace and employees, and the strategies to address them. It also covers digital transformation and how leadership teams can build adaptability to these changes. One point I relate to most is when the book talks about treating employees in a hybrid/remote environment. Leaders should spend equal time with each employee to build a connection. I believe this is true; even spending 20 minutes per week with each team member can significantly increase their recognition of the company, strengthen their bond, and improve communication. Overall, it is a clearly stated guide for improving leadership skills in an ever-changing world.

One of the best books on this subject I have read!

This is fantastic book that tells us the world has changed - buts its ok, we too can get hold of the tech changes taking place. This book will definitely help you get there.

From late 1998 until 2020 I worked in tech - for both large, small and start-ups at senior levels and the final tech start-up was ended by the pandemic. During the short time that has followed, the tech world has indeed changed and the speed of change is still getting faster, but as this book explains, the opportunities are getting more and they are getting bigger. I can say hand-on-heart that this book covers it all well, so well, that it is impossible not to agree and be excited again. An excitement that, prior to this, I had lost.

It takes us on a tour of the tech changes underway and how we need do adapt and structure the organisations and its teams and how we need to approach this with industry sector examples that capture the range of challenges and solutions that need to be adapted to, from agile dev, security, AI, networkingI to remote management of teams and even geopolitical considerations.

From high level to low-level must haves including day-to-day management, collaboration, reporting and time management tools like Click-Up,Teams and Slack (and compares them) to one of the best sustainable definitions I have heard. It’s also a great story-teller - the crisis management real examples were gold as were the other real-word comparisons.

It is one of the best books on this subject I have heard or read in a long time and I highly recommend it!

Great advice for ALL!

I've held a handful of management roles over the many years I've worked. If there is one thing that I've learned it's not always the person who knows the most or can do a certain job the best that makes it to the top or into management, it's the person who can connect, adapt, and make changes to their day to day and explain that to the team. This book does a great job explaining things to keep in mind as a manager or even if you're considering moving into a management role. Honestly, the advice is practical for everyone. These skills and the ability to view situations from different perspectives and deal with changing times are essential for everyone. If you want to not only have better skills for your professional career but also have the skills for living your life easier and less stressed, hone these skills and you will reach the top.

Great book with applicable strategies

This was a really great book- well-written with clear methods and an excellent understanding/ addressing of the evergreen and traditional types of issues that Managers or business owners have to contend with, along with great examples of what can happen when the management does not adapt to technological or social changes. I really enjoyed this book and even though I no longer manage people, I still found many of these principles applicable to my business.
