About this listen
A new series of stand-alone full-length novels from USA Today best-selling author Kathy Coopmans.
For years, I pretended to be something I’m not. Drowning the beast living inside of me in copious amounts of alcohol and women. Not that I complained.
And then Victoria Hughes walks back into my life and took me by surprise.
The woman stunning me clear out of my mind the minute my mouth touched hers.
After tragedy strikes and knocks her off her feet, I expected her to come to me, yet she didn’t. She pretended we’re nothing. But I see her. I’ve watched her, and she’s fighting grief while battling an all-consuming need for vengeance.
If anyone understands that, it’s me.
Deep down, she knows the only way to ease the pain is to give in to me and let justice bleed from her enemy’s veins.
And she will. I’m the type of man to make sure of it.
But there’s a problem. We have no idea who the enemy is. All we know is they want to destroy the Diamond Empire.

Great Story & Narration🎧 Emotional & Intense!
Kathy Coopmans blows me away with this dark and emotional mafia romance novel, the first book of her “Diamond Empire” series, a series of standalone novels. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it captive the entire time, it also tugged on my heartstrings like no other. This book is a spinoff of an existing world, a world I am new to, but I had no problem jumping in, never felt lost or like I was missing something. I am not sure how I missed the earlier series, I only know I am looking forward to checking them out soon. This book is Victoria Hughes and Seth Mitchell’s story and wow, what a story it is. Victoria and Seth were both born into a dangerous world of power. Although Victoria wants nothing to do with it, it's in her blood and can't be avoided, especially if Seth has a say. Seth moves to New York to be closer to Victoria and to be an enforcer for the Diamond Empire. There was a hit on Victoria’s family, she and her father were spared because they were not home at the time, both are suffering from heartbreak and survivor’s guilt. How does someone come back from such a gut-wrenching loss? Seth and Victoria have known each other for years, but she despises him, at least that is what she thinks, and Seth is determined to prove otherwise. He is also determined to find out who was behind the attacks and who is trying to take the empire down. The chemistry between these two was undeniable, and Victoria could only deny herself for so long before finally giving in to it. The story is cleverly plotted with non-stop drama, angst, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Kathy Coopmans, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fantastic narration, Alexander Neal and Lynn Barrington were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and they did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting to that character’s persona and were believable in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another excellent listen.

brutal and broken
Victoria and her father survive a hit on their family. She is busy dealing with survivors guilt. Seth comes to her rescue. He is there to protect her from the people trying to finish the job.
The characters seemed to go in circles. Back and forth like kids. it drew me away from the story. repeating the same thing in each chapter. I still forged on. take that out the story would be even better
the Narrators were great loved listening to them bring these characters to life

Great narration, but more crime syndicate than romantic suspense
I listened to the audiobook. The narration by Alexander Neal and Lynn Barrington was great. I'm sure that I liked the story more because of their performances.
The story itself wasn't at all what I expected from the description and cover. I didn't realize the Diamond Empire was a crime syndicate, and that plays a huge part in this story. It's also a spin off series from books I haven't read, so there was a lot of overlap with characters that obviously had their own stories.
I would recommend this audiobook to listeners who like crime syndicate/mafia stories with organization members who liberally execute their own type of justice. I'm okay with characters protecting themselves, or situations where a death prevents others from getting hurt, but the characters in Concede accepted murder as the obvious outcome for any perceived slight against them and it just seemed extreme/brutal. I also felt like the relationship between the main characters didn't develop over time, it was just kind of assumed. Kathy Coopman's Sweet Sins series was a better fit for me.
I received a copy of the book at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Amazing narration from Alexander Neal and Lynn Barrington, both bring out the suspense, angst and romance
Victoria and Seth's story, is a ruthless mafia romance. Victoria and Seth once got together and neither have has forgotten the other, Seth is determined to make Victoria release they are meant to be. Victoria has danger around her and is not looking for romance. Seth wants to keep her safe, but help her through all the tragedy she has been through.
This is one emotional, intense, dark mafia romance.

Riveting
Both the author and narrators are new to me and I enjoyed the book . I wasn’t sure about listening when I found out it was a spin off from another series but I needn’t have worried . It was intense in places I wasn’t sure if they were meant to be together in places but everything worked out in the end .

Great start to this romantic suspense series!
Dark and gritty, Kathy Coopmans comes out strong with a phenomenal start to her spinoff series, The Diamond Empire. Immediately, I was taken into the Empire, and needed all the answers! This is Victoria and Seth's story, and it's all I love in a good mafia romantic suspense. Victoria and Seth have hooked up once. Neither has forgotten the other, and Seth is determined to make Victoria see that he is the man for her. But she is dealing with a lot, and romance is the last thing on her mind. Now danger is lurking, and Seth is not only going to keep her safe, but help her through all the tragedy she has been through. But will it be enough? At first, I wasn't sure if I was going to like Seth. He is overly alpha, demanding and in her face. It's clear that Victoria is messed up, and I just didn't know if he was going to be the one for her. But Coopmans knew and she won me over! I loved this action packed, twisted story and once started, I couldn't stop. I am looking forward to see what is going to happen next! There are a lot of loose ends and it's going to be good!
The narration of this story certainly amped up all the suspense in this one! Alexander Neal and Lynn Barrington are perfectly cast as Seth and Victoria. Neal knows how to delve into the darkness, yet keep a bit of warmth in his heart. Barrington proves just how strong Victoria really is with her bravado, yet gives her the vulnerability to make her real. This team enhanced the story and made it a fantastic listen.

I have waited so long for this audio!!
I have patiently waited for this audio. I read the story but really, really wanted to listen. I love this story. I love this author. I love the narrators. I love the characters. I love the dialogue. I really liked this story, and have actually listened twice, because I was somewhat distracted at work and unable to listen through in one sitting. This is a definite add to my library, and will remain downloaded for when I cannot make up my mind on what to listen to.
