Summary

In the remote, rugged corner of Montana’s Glacier National Park known as the Devil’s Grasp, little Paige Baker of San Francisco disappears with her dog, Kobee, while on a camping trip with her family; or so her mother and father have told authorities. A multiagency task force launches a massive search as Paige fights to survive in the wilderness. Time hammers against her, and soon the nation is gripped by the life-and-death drama. Secretly, behind the scenes, the FBI grows suspicious of Paige’s parents. Their recent history and disturbing evidence links them to a horrible secret from the past.

Love the book

If you can get over the narrator it’s such a brilliant series! That being said after a couple chapters my annoyance with the reading faded and I enjoyed it so just keep going!

Excellent but exhausting!

Compelling thriller that holds your interest throughout. You get to know the huge cast of characters well, with very good narration. Really enjoyed it.

All the ingredients for a great story.

The imagery created by the author is superb. I would go as far as to say I would have liked a bit more.
I found a lot of repetition. It's hard writing for audio but then maybe that could be leveled at the narrator. Pooh Bahhh!
I enjoyed it and highly recommend it. I'm off to listen to another one. I hope you do too.

Bit overdone

Bit too many details about the fbi. Story far fetched but good read all the same

Good narrator but story too far fetched

Liked the narrator and the story had a lot of potential and I did enjoy it mostly.

But - spoilers -

The fact that Hood could just walk in to the vast forest that they had been searching for days and find Paige so quickly and at the moment she would have died is just not believable. The author sort of hints that he has this image sense of the forest but just doesn’t scan. Even though they knew a rough area she was in - there is very little chance he would have stumbled across her

Ruined what could have been a good story for me. Maybe if he had been in forest for a few days tracking the searches it would have improved the story arc.

I also think story would have been better if you didn’t hear Paige’s voice. If the author left Paige at the point she goes missing then the subsequent twists would be more surprising and you would find stuff out at same time that the investigators do.

Could have been so much better. But I did listen to the end.
