About this listen

Castle meets Murder, She Wrote with a touch of Psych.

Four cozy whodunits to bring out your inner sleuth.

After several years in the military, Kirby Jackson just moved back to his coastal hometown to open up his dream coffee shop. But his best friend and co-owner, Ryan, just had to add his own flair: Comic books.

And the business isn't off to a good start. The coffee is fine. With the comics floundering and sinking Kapow Koffee into debt, Kirby has to make a tough decision.

On the cusp of telling Ryan the grim news, he finds his friend with a knife in his back.

Of course Kirby becomes suspect number one. Perhaps things wouldn't look so bad had he not been planning to metaphorically stab Ryan in the back, cutting him out of the business.

The shop’s mascot, a stubborn dachshund named Gambit, might hold the keys to solving the case. But he ain't talking. His woofs are only for treats...Or are they?

Can Kirby prove his innocence? Can he and Gambit make friends? And can the not-so-dynamic duo solve the case before the killer strikes again?

Curious crimes, engaging characters, and a lovable dachshund. Coffee House Capers are perfect for all dog lovers, some comic book fans, and cozy listeners alike. With a male sleuth and canine partner, it's reminiscent of The Cat Who, but set in a quaint modern-day Coastal Florida town.

What a great book set to enjoy, you get four great and very different mysteries all featuring Kirby and his coffee shop. I love series and tend to read or listen to every book in the series but never straight after each other because they just blend into each other but that was so not the case with this book set. As soon as I finished one I was straight into the next especially as they followed on from each other. Don't get me wrong each case gets wrapped in there own book but I didn't Kirby's life of love life was constantly changing and I wanted to find out what happens. It was fun and unusual that the amateur sleuth was a male. If you are not a fan of MARVEL or super hero's don't let it put you off, as the main character isn't either, even though he own a comic book cafe but he is a good amateur sleuth
The comic book coffee shop is my kind of place to hang out, especially with a cat curled up on my lap. I hope there are more to come.
Marvels, Mochas and murder..
Kirby and Ryan dream of owning a comic book cafe isn't going well, especially as one of the pair is doing all the work. while the other one is off having fun. But it doesn't mean Kirby would stab him in the back with a bagel knife or would he? The police seem to think so when that is exactly what happens. In fact the only reason he isn't arrested on the spot is because one of the detectives in charge is an ex girlfriend and she needs more proof, it is a shame she can't ask Gambit Ryan's loveable dachshund who the killer is. The three of them start questioning old friends to uncover old jealousy and rivalries but it isn't until another body is discovered before they put all the clues together to solve the murder
Lattes and lies
Kirby is too busy running his coffee shop to have time to do anything but read comics, until his favourite author as a child decided to visit her home town and join his Memaw’s book club. Then when she is killed by one of the members Kirby sets out to find the killer. Is her murder connected to something in her last of something she did more recent.
Cold Brew Catastrophe
Kirby thought getting Gambit his dachshund a new friend would keep him happy but when he gets talked into getting Rogue a streetwise cat things don't go to plan. Kirby also gets talked into helping out with the Niilhaasi Pirate Festival and using his coffee shop the base for all the visiting pirates but he soon finds that following a treasure map isn't everything it's cracked up to be. First a teenage boy goes missing and the Kirby and Gambit discover a body. Can he once again solve a murder and find the missing boy before it's to late.
Decafe deceit
Kirby hates watching the girl he has a crush on since high school with the wrong man. So when she storms out of a party her boyfriend is hosting, Kirby is by her side when she stumbles over a dead body. The man turns out to be a private investigator who was spying on a woman to find out if she was cheating. Was that the reason he was killed? Kirby wants to stay out of it but owning the only coffee shop in the area means he learns things when the suspects stop in for there morning java. Can he work out who the killer was?
I liked the narrator. He has read a number of books I have listened too and hasn't failed to entertain each and every time.
