Summary

When she promised 'until death do us part,' she meant it.

When Darby O'Hara believed in something, she believed in it forever, and her marriage rated at the top of that list. But she hadn't counted on a husband who devoted most of his life to his business. As the years passed, and he spent more and more hours away from home, her dreams of becoming a mother seemed to be just that - a dream. One that would never be fulfilled. Being patient hadn't worked. Talking hadn't either, and one day she decided she'd had enough. It was time to make a new life for herself. Maybe with the handsome and attentive Dylan.

Achieving success had always been important to him.

No one had ever loved their wife more than Cal O'Hara loved his, but he'd never figured out how to balance his personal life and his business. And then came the day she announced her intention to divorce him. In that moment he knew he'd do anything to win her back. When a holiday reprieve comes his way, he knows he's got one chance to make some serious changes. He's willing to give everything he has to win Darby back. The question is, will everything be enough to make her want to stay?

Emotional and sensitive

It isn't often you find a book about the truths of a long established relationship. Most romances are centred squarely on the angst associated with the build up to a relationship and the passion associated with the beginning of a great love.

Not this book. This is the story of a deep love that faces the challenges of life, including death, deep seeded fears, unfulfilled desires and partners being taken for granted. It is a sensitively presented account of Cal and Darby's emotionally charged journey back to love.

As with previous books in this series, a series about a group of close friends, the issue of Edward's stalker remains. We also get to revisit with the other friends l, though they do remain in the periphery of the story.

I am really enjoying Kristy K James' Coach's Boys series. You cannot help but love the characters. She has cleverly spiced up her clean romances with a bit of suspence, a heavy dose of enviable friendships and a splash of reality, be it cancer, death, loneliness, etc. Daniela Acitelli has a soft and gentle approach to narration which matches the emotional nature of this story.

A gripping story

Although I think you can read this as a stand alone story, I think it would mean more if you have read all that comes before. It is an emotional story but I was happy to continue as I knew it was a happy ever after. A workaholic husband and a wife at the end of her understanding, together with the discovery of a stalker that has been haunting previous books in the series. It kept me gripped to see where it went and I can definitely recommend it to others.
