About this listen
The Fox family returns from Scotland to find Sugarbury Falls mourning the mysterious death of a young college student. When teenager Maddy’s friend Robby is accused of the murder, Emily and Henry try to clear his name. After all, they’d do anything to help their newly adopted daughter. The more they investigate, however, the less certain they are of Robby’s innocence. With a detour leading to a long buried family secret, the path of the investigation is convoluted and dangerous.
Can they clear the course and arrive at the truth, or is it too late?

Clearing the way for a good book
I really enjoyed this book. This is book three in the Sugarbury Falls Mystery series but the first book by this author that I have read or listened too but it won't be my the last, as it was a lot of fun. It didn't matter that I started with book three and I had no problems working out who everybody was and there connections because it was nicely written. I liked the fact that so much was going on with this story and every time I began to suspect someone something would happen and I changed my mind. The characters were like able and I liked the family life it was just the right amount and enhanced the mystery as opposed to taking over, I especially liked working out the meaning of the clues on the treasure hunt. As for the mystery there was plenty of suspects and I liked how it played out and kept you guessing at not only who the killer was but also the motive. I will be keeping an eye out for more books by this author.
The Fox family return home to the sad news that a local teenager that they know died while they were away. There is a question over what happened, was it suicide? Murder or an accident? She was an experienced swimmer and her friends claim she wasn't depressed, which leads the police to examine her body more closely. When the police start to take a closer look at her ex boyfriend Roddy, Maddy begs her adoptive parents, Emily and Henry, to hire a lawyer and clear her friends name. Things don't look good when evidence starts to pile up on the boy and an eye witnesses comes forward. Can Emily and Henry keep him out of jail? Then a nurse is hurt and a doctor is killed, what is the connection? And does that mean Roddy's name is cleared? Things start to point to a connection at the hospital And the killer hasn't finished yet. At the same time the Fox's also find a box hidden inside a wall, with strange items inside. In order to help distract Maddy from here worry over her friend they start following the clues, which leads them to investigate Henry's family and the secrets they held. Will they be able to solve both mysteries.
I liked the narrator and thought she did a good job bringing the characters to life.
