Summary

Anara may just be a human woman in the merciless Friren arena, but her ordinary exterior hides a deadly killer. As reigning champion, she's earned her freedom three times over, but each time she chooses to stay. After all, she's the best at what she does, and there's nothing that can replace the feeling of the audience cheering her name. Complacency can kill, though, and the Frirens have thrown out a new twist to knock her from her throne—a champion-killer to end her winning streak. In a world where it's kill or be killed, Anara's not going down without a fight.

Rauhq lost himself in the arena years ago, tormented by the slaughter of his family and unable to exact revenge. Now he takes out his rage on his opponents, and no one can stand against him and his devastating power. Taking out a human woman won't even be a challenge—until Rauhq discovers, mid-battle, that she is his mate. Now Rauhq faces a new challenge: claiming a mate who doesn't want to be claimed, keeping her alive, and getting them both out of the arena.

Lust in the Arena

Anara is the reigning champion of the Friren gladiator arena, which is an amazing achievement for a female human. She is free to leave the arena but choses to stay of her own accord. Things go on as normal until she is faced with a champion from a different arena, Rauhq. Losing his family to tragedy many years ago, he has nothing to live for so takes his loss & rage out on his opponents, and remains undefeated. But when he comes face to face with Anara he discovers to his confusion that she is his fated mate and can't kill her. Anara wants nothing to do with him but when he helps to protect her in the arena, she finds sense in fighting together as a team. However outside of the arena, Anara has to tackle Rauhg's persistence in wanting to mate with her.

Claiming His Champion is a short story about fated mates. At first there was a touch and go moment of forced mating, then it transforms into the enemies to lovers scenario. The fight scene's were good but the insta-romance was far too quick in my opinion especially from Anara's POV. Also it would have been nice if the picture on the book cover reflected the description of Rauhg's character. In the book he is described as having black tattoo's all over his body, but the cover has him with blue tattoo's.

Overall it was an ok read, but I was a little uncomfortable with the way Rauhg imposed himself on Anara.

More than one sort of fighting going on here!

Anara is a rather unusual human. She hasn't found her way to the arena by accident, or by being taken, no she made a conscious choice to be there. She has been fighting there for so long she has been offered her freedom twice and yet she has stayed. Partly through a little fear of the great unknown, not that she would admit to it, but mainly she has no reason to leave. Nothing to pull her away from the Arena. Granted it's not much of life but it is still her choice, for now. Rauhq has been the champion of his arena but now it seems that he is being sent to clean up another one. Apparently his new arena has a human as it's champion and a female one at that. Seems a very quick and easy job and then on to the next one. Well it would be until Rauqh discovers that the human female is his mate. He has already lost his family once, can he open himself up to another chance? This time he is not so much fighting for his life but fighting to get his mate to accept him and that is whole other type of fighting!
