Boring...

I like this genre so I sat through it for over an hour waiting for the book to start but even for a free book I can't recommend it.

easy

it's not the longest or the most detailed but I actually really enjoyed this story both for the novelty of having a geriatric anti-hero and the lack of detail. the story moves on swiftly without tedious explanations of stat pages or exposition. the main character is often as in the dark as the listener and it's fun to discover what's next.

One of the better freebies on Audible.

Now the reviews of this title tend to be a bit misleading. This book was far more interesting than I expected and for it being a free listen, it's definetly worth a try. There is no action (in the combat sense at least) but the story is fairly interesting and the main character is pretty solid. This is a very light book but does a decent job at pulling you into the story.
This book is not for the action junkies out there. But if you have a thing for stories such as the All Trades series, it's absolutely worth a listen.
Halligers does a great job narrating here, as he always does.
As I'm currently in search of a big series to binge, I will definitely be picking the next book up.

Better than expected

It’s a pretty basic idea man gets teleported to a new world, man becomes leader of small town on its last legs, man makes town better, man makes enemies, man beats enemies, but looks at the other reviews I feel like it’s been judged unfairly, the book has something about it that attracted me to it I love city building books and finding good ones are very hard when I saw this book I was… hesitant judging by the book description and cover but a soon as I started reading I knew I made a good choice. The main character may be a bit cut throat and willing to through others under the bus but everything he does helps more people than it harms he isn’t a bad guy all and all and that makes the book so much easier to listen too, the writing is nothing special however it’s very descriptive and you can really get a feel for your surroundings all and all I would suggest this book to any lover of LITRPG genre.

The definition of easy listening

This is a very light book. The world is simplistic. Every problem is resolved immediately. Every time the MC has a surplus the next place he visits wants to buy the commodity for good money. There is a gold system but he just accumulates it like crazy. To be honest this is like a story of someone playing a tutorial BUT it is fairly entertaining and was nice to listen to in the background. The narration was good.

A decent story worth a listen. Wasn’t sure about this one but after listening it’s a pretty interesting story.

Nice idea but the main character isn't likeable

It's all just a little too easy for the main character. Too willing to exploit everyone and has rather too easy a time of it. There simply isn't any adversity he doesn't solve immediately while profiting from it.

The main problem in the way the story is told is that no matter what problem is set up to be overcome it's resolved in the very next chapter. No issues are left brewing for later drama, it all gets wrapped up tidily in a couple of paragraphs ready for the next problem to come along.

Absolutely fantastic

Excellent take on a litrpg adventure, with a solid mc and superb narration.

I even listened to it all in one sitting! Turns out a pragmatic approach from the mc in a book can get you in the right mood to do some productive work yourself, and just like that time flew by and I was done.

Can't wait for the next entry. Hoping some side characters become a larger part of it with perhaps more world descriptions to paint a more vivid picture. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say!

A new series for me to binge!

What an interesting twist on this genre.
The protagonist has a way of going about things that I have not seen any other try. The reader is clear and well paced and really sells the characters to me. I've already started to listen to the next book in the series.
