Summary

Samuel deserves to die a thousand deaths.

I was so close to going home and then he ruined it all. Now, I have to focus on how to survive because I don’t think I can go home. And to be honest, after a few more nights with Benny, I’m not sure I even want to.

Plus, the more I learn about the circus, the more intrigued I become. I discover that I have abilities I couldn’t have even dreamed of, if I’d stayed in California.

But, if I’m to survive, I might have to embrace dark magic.

Can I do that without losing myself? Or, am I destined to become evil?

Didn't see that coming.

Oh my gosh, this series is amazing. Just when I think it can't possibly get any better, it absolutely does. The storyline is very unique, I've never read anything quite like this. This island is shrouded in so much mystery, there are somethings you will see coming. But it's the things you don't see coming that make this so jaw dropping, I'm not one for the circus as clowns creep me out. Still reading this, has it's jump scare moments. The characters are so well written, that even the bad guys steal your heart. Callie is stubborn and headstrong, but lacks confidence. She's definitely a great main character, and Samuel and Benny are very interesting. This book ended with a cliffhanger, that has left me totally reeling. This is a series that is definitely worth reading, and will possibly become a top favourite for most people.

Unpredictable twists and turns

Unpredictable twists and turns that keep you guessing. I liked finding out more about Samuel but he was a little bit yikes at some points! Overall the world building and fast paced story in this book makes up for any down falls I feel for the character flaws I occasionally have definitely well worth a read.

Again the narrator for this audiobook has captured the characters and pace of the story absolutely perfectly!
