About this listen
Peter Reid is one of the most colourful characters to emerge from England over the last 50 years. As a player, he established himself as one of the leading midfielders of his era, being named PFA Player of the Year in 1985 and credited as the fourth best footballer in the world. He won numerous honours with Everton, including two league titles, one FA Cup and one European Cup Winners’ Cup. He also won 13 England caps, playing at the 1986 World Cup - where a date with destiny at the ‘hand’ of Diego Maradona would provide a lasting, painful memory.
This is the unique story of a footballer who got to the top and never forgot his roots. Told with typical forthrightness, Peter’s audiobook will capture the imagination of football fans far and wide.

Reidy - legend
Great book, amazing stories from a genuine great of the game. The reviewers complaining about his politics, if you didn’t know he hates the Tories, then you’ve learnt something. I suppose you must be little gaslighted Tories yourselves. Narration was let down by the fake Scouse accent and mispronunciation of places like Kirkby (silent K in the middle fyi). Really enjoyed the book overall, amazing insights.

Undoubtedly the best football autobiography out there
You have to love Peter Reid.....ok, I loved the Everton side of the mid-80’s but this audiobook has so much more to it. The narrator is superb and reads the delightful stories perfectly . There is nothing I didn’t like about it all... Cheer up Peter, this book is wonderful

Brilliant
Superb and written from the heart. Just wish Peter had read it. They don’t make them like Reidy anymore.

outstanding listen
Not the run of the mill manager/player book. Great stories about his family, other managers and players and have a new found respect after learning he paid bills and players wages at Plymouth.

Very Sad
I found this very highly illuminating and also very sad. It portrayed a very intelligent and highly motivated and determined man who appears to have alcohol difficulties. All through the book there are constant references to drink and all his friends appear to be "hard drinkers" too. Peter appears to have been surrounded by drink all his life and now seems to be paying the price, especially if you listen to his epilogue, in his own voice. It was a good book but rather than sharing in his football successes it seemed to highlight a man who's life has been affected by drink. As I said, rather sad.
