Summary

Tuck and Ginger are two cats who get on each other's nerves. But they need to pause the claws if they’re to escape from the high-rise apartment where they are trapped. And escape they must, for their kidnappers – Rodney and Janice Burringo – are warty wicked witches who want to use Tuck and Ginger’s body parts to build the best witches’ cat in the world: a black Purrari.

Tuck, who’s a few granules short of a litter-tray, and Ginger, a cynical street fighter gone to seed, must overcome their differences and survive a list of unlikely adventures if they’re to escape alive from the beastly Burringos and their toxic gases before it’s too late.

An awesome audio book that made us laugh out loud!

What made the experience of listening to Cats on the Run the most enjoyable?

The characters really come to life in this new audio book, wonderfully voiced by super talent Deborah Wiseman. The witches' dastardly plans sound all the more gruesome; the various cat characters take on their own personas, as they fight to stay one step ahead of the evil Burringos. This is a nicely-paced story, with lots of quirky details and believable characters.

What other book might you compare Cats on the Run to, and why?

There is something quite Roald Dahl about some of the alliteration and whacky words.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The showdown at the end between Rodney and Janice and the four cats.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

If you don't like cats you just haven't met the right one.

Any additional comments?

This would be a wonderful audio book for a long road trip. In addition, there is also some humor hidden in the story that only parents / adults will get. I'd recommend it for ages 8 upwards.

A hilarious tale of mischievous animals

What did you like most about Cats on the Run?

I loved the variety of the characters, the hilarious accents and funny voices from the narrator
as well as the use of alliteration and rhyming words.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really enjoyed listening to the character of Ginger with her six bellies and ability to meow in lots of languages. She really made me laugh out loud!

Which character – as performed by Deborah Wiseman – was your favourite?

My favourite character is Juan Carlos the Spanish talking toad!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I think overall this book is very cleverly written and narrated. It is an easy listen for parents and children to enjoy together, particularly teaching children lessons throughout e.g. waiting for the light signals to cross the road.

Any additional comments?

I will definitely be listening to this book again and will be bringing it for our upcoming family road trip! Meow.
