About this listen

A PULSE-POUNDING THRILLER IN THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING MITCH RAPP SERIES

As war looms in the Middle East, only Mitch Rapp can deliver truth and justice.

2011. On a remote mountaintop overlooking the remains of the Iranian nuclear weapons programme, Azad Ashani witnesses a Quds Force demonstration of a capability meant to upend America’s war in the Middle East. Ashani, director of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security and Irene Kennedy’s former back channel to the Iranian government, recognises the demonstration’s true significance and the nation-ending conflict it will provoke.

In Washington, DC, CIA director Irene Kennedy briefs the president that the operational window to kill or capture Osama bin Laden is rapidly closing. But before he’ll authorise a commando raid on Pakistani soil, the president demands irrefutable proof of bin Laden’s presence.

Proof he trusts just one man to provide.

glad to finish it!

Too "bulked out" with references to past stories. Not a typical read, nothing like previous stories, felt it was written by artificial intelligence or a completely different author. Also, why the change of narrator??

A younger Wrapp

This episode takes us back, where recent episodes have continued with Mitch into middle age. I think we have lost Mitch as we have grown with him through many adventures. A good listen and story, although why go back in time, I would prefer to continue with Mitch into retirement.

Not the Mitch we’ve grown to love! Sorry Don!

I’d be hoping for great things from Don Bentley when he took over the reins. This book didn’t deliver. It didn’t have me page turning or listening for hours on the edge of my seat like many of the other books have. I thinking jumping back to Neptune Spear feels like it should have been a novella to fill a gap whilst the writer got his head round where to go next with Mitch but instead they’ve tried to add filler and hope we’d all just go with it! Let’s hope in memory of Vince he can turn it around with his next book.

A new twist on Mitch Rapp

Whilst not the Mitch Rapp was not the one of Vice Flynn neither was Daniel Craig in Casino Royale the Bond we’d known before. As Daniel Craig brought a grittier, harder James Bond, Don Bentley has brought us a grittier, harder Rapp. Good work

Loved it!!

I have read every Rapp book twice and I loved this. Yes it’s hard to go back to the classic early days but some it has new takes and loved the angle it came from along with the actions scenes. All in all an excellent first new chapter for Mitch Rapp.

New author

This is an ok listen but it really doesn’t feel like a Mitch Rapp book.

Not sure about this one …

I’m not sure where this one sits with me. A little too different from the last few at times but gritty nonetheless less. An OK for me.

Disappointingly written by ChatGPT

As an avid Mitch Rapp fan, I was eagerly waiting the next book and in particular this one, following the excellent “Code Red” book. So to my surprise, I literally had to read the book description on more than one occasion to see if it wasn’t one I’d previously read. The constant updates on the progression of natural language processing made with wonder whether, all 22 novels were put into ChatGPT or Microsoft’s Copilot with the specific instructions to write book 23, “Capture or Kill”. Especially when Stan Hurley died in “The Last Man” (Book 13) and Mike Nash dies in “Oath of Loyalty” (Book 20). The new author has not done Vince Flynn justice with this new book. Any fan should consider ordering this book and any future books, unless the author does a massive regain! Gutted does not come close.
