Summary
Senior Chief Cotton Wiley thought he had left his days of fighting behind in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the world had other plans. First a deadly virus ravaged humanity and then the attempt at a vaccine turned most of the survivors into genetically engineered cannibals. Now the former SEAL has a new mission: Get his daughter through the wasteland of what was once America and to a place where she has a chance at a future not soaked in blood.
Roland Reese took the shot that killed the President of the United States, and in doing so plunged the entire country into a vortex of chaos from which it would never return. Now he has become the self-designated “King of Central Texas” and enforces his treaty with an iron fist. Like everyone else in the Texas Meat Belt Roland has a bloody past, but the secret he guards closest may prove his undoing.
Harris Pembroke always dreamed of a life in Special Forces, but flat feet kept him from serving his country and forced him into the humdrum life of an insurance salesman. Then he took the vaccine and felt his humanity slipping away as the entire world he knew was pulled out from beneath him. Now he has a second chance to live the life he always dreamed of. When the zero hour strikes will he have the courage to make a stand against the evil rapidly overwhelming the world or will he prove himself to be the coward he always secretly feared he was?
Cannibal Warfare is the first book in the Texas Meat Belt series and features a complex cast of characters, unexpected plot twists, military realism and non-stop action.
Don’t fear the end of the world. Fear what lies beyond the end.

Good listen
I listen to a lot of post apocalyptic series and this was a really good listen. It was a little complicated regarding the virus but in the end it made sense. The relationship between the father and the daughter was so good and thought out. The different factions worked well and I liked the way there were little reveals throughout.
The narration suited the book
I went on straight to the next book in the series it was that compelling.

worth a listen to!
liking the story so far, if you're interested in apocalyptic military fiction I'd say go for it.
great narrator but sometimes there is a bit of an echo to be heard in the background but it only lasts for a few seconds.

Not worth listening to.
Narrator was not bad. Though I was fed up listening to his drawl.
Story was dull.
No edge of the seat suspense moments.
The hero ‘Cotton’ is so slick he makes Mayweather seem like a drunken arthritic pensioner. Why do they all have to be grade one class A super soldiers?
What’s wrong with bus drivers or Asda trolley boys.
Nothing original here.
