About this listen

Callis Rose is a girl blessed with a gift from above or cursed with a ruthless power she barely understands; it's really just a matter of degrees. As her family life is turned asunder she is thrown into an indifferent Social Services program where she defends herself the only way she knows how.

Callis is moved from home to home until she finally settles at the Lowries. As she starts her first day of high school she meets both her favorite and least favorite person. Both happen to be part of the same household. Mindy Denton makes it her single mission in life to destroy Callis, even as her brother, Kevin, falls deeper into love with the mysterious and beautiful girl who is hiding something from them all.

Great stand alone story

Great to listen to a stand alone book from Mark Tufo with a totally different subject, it’s not overly original, has some Carrie essences, but the characters again are strong and the dialogue is brilliant and his story’s flow and never get boring, I did want Mindy to suffer a lot though, which didn’t really happen. The brilliant performance as always from Sean completes the listen. I’d love Mr Tufo to write some other stand alone books.

Another cracking Tufo read

Good independent story with the expected Tufo undertones.
Well narrated (obviously)
Surprisingly one name pronunciation changes during the story which is enexpexted with the Tufo/Runnette deal but nobody is perfect.

When how peoples' actions are reflected back at them physically

A great story of how a wonderful person can become tainted beyond recognition and yet remain at heart a fundamentally good person.

Great standalone book

flows well, will make a great movie sometime soon. I hope they don't make it into a mean girls sequel.

really enjoyed this audio book the narration was excellent and the story engaging.

I enjoy this magic type of sc fi / magic fiction and the characters were great.

some of the story is tough to hear as there's child abuse in it.

A “could have been” book

With some expansion of the characters it could have been a really good book but it just seemed as though chunks had been edited out.
