About this listen
Profits. Coffee. Extortion. All in a day's work.
When Ishmael takes the Chernyakova back into Toe-Hold space, he finds a lot more than profit. A quick pass through the Telluride system reveals the answer to one question but leaves him docked without a cargo until the owner of Dark Knight Station makes him an offer he can't refuse.

brilliant story
absolutely love this series, well written. although I enjoyed this book and the preceding 2 I still struggle with matching the voice to Ishmail. this is not a dig at the narrator ,who read it perfectly, but I think I would have like to hear Nathan's reading.
his tones and inflections really made the character stand out.

Solar clipper adventure perfection...
I really like Mr. Lowell's writing in all his books specially this one.
Very subtle references in this story, to nowadays books or popular cultural things makes me chuckle. Narrator changed from author himself (first 5 books) and I found it difficult to get use to it specially because the different intonations, makes main character seems cold and very arrogant.

The brilliant way the stories are told
Another wonderful book by Nathan Lowell. I adore Ishmael & Mr Lowells adventures of him are so well written & so enjoyable. This is my second time around with Ishmael Wong & it was just like listening to the stories the first time, fantastic. I just wish there were more books.

Not Captain Kirk or Picard in a very good way
I have gotten to know Ishmael Wang since his days on the Solar Clipper. So take my 5 stars with a grain of salt. Are these the best books ever written? No. Do I like the characters and want to see where there story goes. Absolutely yes. Do I like Nathan Lowel's specific writing style. Absolutely yes. This is also not a story about Captain Kirk or Picard. This is an earther turned spacer just trying to live his life and do his job to the best of his ability. I love every minute of it.

Journeying out of Depression
Captain Ishmael Wong and his journey out of depression, while surrounded by a colourful collection of characters waiting for him to start living again. In the last book I got the feeling that Ish was struggling with just the day to day effort of living, but here we get to see him returning to his thoughtful consideration of others.
Ish has been improving the lives of his shipmates since half share, and it's wonderful to see him picking up that habit again.
It's easy to get swept up in, he's only doing what he thinks anyone else would do, forgetting the dangers he's putting himself in, but the rest of the crew is quick to point it out once they get a chance. I felt that the point was a little belaboured, but that's probably an aspect of Ish having a really low opinion of himself.
I hope this isn't the last I see of Ishmael Wong, but I'm sure I'll be back to reread his stories again and again.
