Summary
John Milton thought he could run forever. He was wrong.
For years, former secret service agent and trained killer John Milton thought he could outrun his past, his demons and his enemies. His enemies had other ideas.
Captured and imprisoned by the organisation he once worked for, Milton must do one last job in exchange for his freedom. Bullheaded billionaire fixer Tristan Huxley is brokering a weapons deal between Russia and India. He needs protection and he wants Milton by his side. Huxley has trusted Milton with his life before but these days his world is more decadent and his enemies more dangerous, in ways that nobody could ever have suspected.
Finally, the man who thought he’d never be forgiven has the chance to wipe the slate clean, once and for all. But is it really a case of no more running for Milton? Can the Group be trusted to keep their word and let him go? And who is it that really needs protecting?
After all, nobody is bulletproof, not even John Milton.

Another great John Milton story.
Current events neatly woven into a great tightly written thriller.
Narrated with the vocal skill set of David Thorpe. 10/10

Really brilliant
I love John Milton.
This story is one of the best ones I have read. I love the way the author manages is to hook you into wanting to know what happens in the next episode while tying up many of the loose ends. I don’t know what else to say, besides, another rollercoaster of excitement with attention to detail and the ability to make the action scenes so well described that you feel like you’re watching.

Such a good narrator
David Thorpe, as narrator, really adds to the enjoyment of this fabulous series. Recommend these books highly as pure escapism - you get so easily engrossed in the story. Shame John Milton gets older with every book. He can’t last forever.

Just brilliant…addiction is an understatement
What can I say…I am totally ADDICTED!! To this series…characters, story lines & the narration.
Love walking my dogs & listening with overly large headphones (yes I do look like weird lost tractor driver) to books like this…I “kill” few terrible people on the way (imaginary!!) & come back home relaxed. Lol. So thank you Mark Dawson & David Thorpe…well and Audible of course

Fantastic!!
I really like the John Milton series but have listened to them out of order depending on when Audible has them on sale 🙂 Not because they aren’t worth a credit but because they’re often on sale. I listened to the preceding novel and was hooked by the description of this one and spent a credit on it immediately. I’ve not even finished listening to this one yet, am only 2/3 of the way through but felt compelled to write this review so far. It’s fantastic! They’re all good but this one is extra pacey and extra thrilling with more than one plot line. I’m really enjoying it and can’t wait to listen to the end of it. If you like the JM series, this is a MUST-LISTEN!

Powerful stuff
Not sure if there is any truth in what goes on with the rich and powerful but it does make you wonder where the super yaghts and the cost of running them comes from and Mark Dawson gives you some ideas who it's done, another exciting story from Mark.
