They're not bound by family. But a family could tear them apart.

Southall, West London. After being released from prison, Zaq Khan is lucky to land a dead-end job at a builders' yard. All he wants to do is keep his head down and put the past behind him.

But when Zaq is forced to search for his boss's runaway daughter, he quickly finds himself caught up in a deadly web of deception, murder and revenge.

With time running out and pressure mounting, can he find the missing girl before it's too late? And if he does, can he keep her - and himself - alive long enough to deal with the people who want them both dead?

Enjoyable, action packed crime story

I heard about this book on Hattie Crissell's 'In Writing' podcast where she interviews the author. This was an entertaining listen. It was the guilty pleasure equivalent of watching The Fast and Furious 8. The main character Zaq had enough to make you root for him, although I found a couple of the other characters on his side a little irritating at times. The narration of Zak's friend Jags is particularly annoying. The pace of the story is good, with the explosive sections of tension and raw violence spaced out well throughout the book. I did find at times the author failed to stick to the show don't tell rule and laboured to spell out what was happening rather than allowing the reader to figure things out. The resolution was neat, but I really felt the key relationship between Rita and her brothers wasn't really explored deeply enough. It's what the whole plot hinges on, but I didn't think it was convincing enough to drive each of them to their actions. Overall it's a good crime/action novel and I enjoyed it
