About this listen

When rebellious teenager Misty Sullivan falls pregnant to a local wannabe gangster, she soon becomes a prisoner in her own home. Despite the betrayal of her best friend, she eventually recovers her self-belief and plots revenge on her abusive boyfriend with spectacular consequences.

This gripping tale sees the impressive debut of Karen Woods in the first of a series of novels based on characters living on a Manchester council estate. Themes of social deprivation, self-empowerment, lust, greed and envy come to the fore in this authentic tale of modern life.

Meh

Good storyline. Narrator not suited to this book though. Weird ending, felt a little rushed to finish the story

Poor narration

Good story but the narrator lacked any emotion when reading . You can normally visualise the characters with a good narrator but not in this case.

Gripping story

This could do with a trigger warning at beginning of narrative as it is rather graphic throughout. The story is unfortunately so close to what many experience but this was portreyed and certainly well doc

Compelling characters

A bit slow to start with but brilliant storyline. Misty is a loveable character with lots of good traits.

Great story 👏

Great story and the narrator is good.
My only criticism is that there is a problem with chapter 16 (shows as 17) - there is a big pause at the beginning and stops mid sentence at the end. Not the author's fault but please Audible, correct this as the author deserves better and so do the credit paying customers.

Terrible narration

The story itself was predictable and boring, but the narrator was outstandingly bad! Not suited at all,at times I thought Peter Kay was the moms voice when he plays Geraldine, I thought about turning off but was hoping it would improve, it didn’t

Narrator wrong choice

The story was good, I’m from Manchester and I could relate to a lot of what I listened to however the narrator spoilt it for me. The story was far fetched in parts also. Certain things just didn’t add up
