Summary
PIERRE (“GAGS”)
My life is complicated.
Hell, I’m complicated.
I don’t know a life beyond how I’m perceived. After a devastating divorce, it looked like I never would.
Can a hockey fight change your life?
I may not understand my attraction to Sven Holmer, but I can tell you my obsession with kissing him started in the middle of a fight. When we met again, the conversation was easy, the banter effortless. Once stolen glances gave way to secret touches, I was more confused than ever. How the hell am I supposed to handle it when everything I’ve always believed about myself no longer fits?
Things are great… until they aren’t.
Our connection deepens with every minute we spend together, but like me, Sven is no stranger to betrayal and heartache. Between my stubbornness, his reservations, and the start of a new season, how can we survive months apart?
When tragedy strikes, all bets are off. I just hope it’s not too late.
Broken Ice, Mended Hearts features two thirty-something hockey players hardened by heartbreak. This compelling, angsty book includes a bisexual awakening, hurt/comfort, found family, first times, high heat, and a hard-earned HEA. Though it is part of the Bethesda Barracudas Hockey series, it can be listened to as a standalone.

So good!
Nick J. Russo made a wonderful story even better. Taylor and Harwood have written many good hockey stories but this one was really special. The two MCs had both been hurt badly in the past but their relationship eventually healed those past hurts.

Enjoyable!
Story: 4 Stars
Narration: 4.5 Stars
Overall: 4.25 Stars!
This audiobook can be listened to as a standalone, but I think you will enjoy it better if you read/listen to the previous books in the series before.
I really liked Sven, he wore his heart on his sleeve and I just wanted to give him a big hug several times throughout the book when he was feeling uncertain of Gagne's feelings (or lack thereof) for him. Now, Gags I wanted to slap silly more than once. *sighs* He was a twatwaffle of the first order so many times, and Sven had so much more patience with him than he deserved. Gags made up for it later in the story, but it took so long, that I almost didn't care by then. Good thing they had amazing chemistry and that the way Gagne made up for past mistakes was pretty much what Sven deserved.
It was nice to catch up with the Barracuda guys, they're always so much fun.
The narration was awesome, Nick especially did a great job with Gagne's accent, it was easy to listen to and understand. And of course, his voice is always a delight to listen to, both the emotional and the funny parts.
Overall, this was an angstier addition to the series, and even if it took me longer to warm up to Gagne, I still enjoyed the book and Sven and Gags' romance. Recommendable!

Absolutely loved it
I think this might just be one of the best MM hockey books i have listened to or read . Sven and Gagne were amazing loved the chemistry and the way they joked with each other and when the worst happened my heart there with Gagne . One of the best parts was when Sven finally admits why he won’t call Gagne by his nickname Gags although I had an inkling why it didn’t stop my full on belly laugh escaping . Nick J Russo was absolute perfection narrating this the accents were everything especially Gagne’s .

Live & love with hockey at its core
Sven & Pip/Gags started this story off with a 'crush'. This audio & book captivated me from the start. Through finding trust in a partner again, after only being seen as an atm or famous face to f*** in previous flings and relationships. It is a lot of work they both have to put in. An unexpected but defining event puts everything in perspective for both Sven & Pip. This is where they truely open up and admits changes they had no choice put to choose for true love and commitment. As I am used to by these authors found family/ very good friends are also present when it counts. Love that vibe.📚5
This book is part of an mm pro hockey series, but is written in such a way that you can read/listen to them as a standalone. Bit as always I find readkng a series in order gives you more buck aka details for your purchase.
Nick shined again in this series. Keeping voices of known characters the same as in the earlier books in this series. He truely made me not eant to pause when I had real life thongs to do. 🎧5-

I loved the story and the narration
I loved everything about this audiobook. It starts with the writing style of the two authors. It's easy-going, captivating and very detailed, so I was able to empathize with the characters very well and I could also imagine the locations very well.
There were Sven and Gags, both very likeable hockey players and incredibly cute together. They meet by chance at Gags' agent's house and start spending time together.
The characters are created in depth and continue to develop as the story progresses. I found the slowly developing relationship realistically described, especially Gags' struggle with being with a man and what that means to him.
The audiobook captivated me from start to finish and I loved how Sven and Gags' relationship grew and what it means to have friends who are there for you.
I also love seeing protagonists from previous volumes again, as is the case here. There were also a few scenes on the ice that were very compellingly written.
As always, the authors have skillfully packed a lot of emotion into the story. There were serious moments as well as funny ones, but there were also heartbreaking moments.
This book is part of a series, but can also be read very well as a standalone.
Nick's narration is outstanding. He brought the story to life by conveying the emotions of the characters brilliantly: be it joy, anger, fun, worry, care or even warmth. Great job! And I love Gags' French accent, very well done! He read vividly and told the story in an entertaining way. It was a pleasure to listen to him!
For me the best book of the series so far because it was very entertaining and exciting and also the first one that was with a bit more angst, which I really like. Highly recommended!
