Emotional Intelligence for Build Relationships

This is a well-researched book that guides readers to start by understanding their own emotions to improve communications to build healthy relationships. For example, if you recognize that your response to conflict is from a place of anger, the trick to handling the situation is not to react. Take a moment to gather your emotions by stepping away to gather your thoughts. When building relationships, it helps to learn how you communicate your emotions in the relationship. As a listener, you are better able to response from a place of empathy by asking questions for better understanding. Empathy puts you in the stormy sea that your partner is feeling. This way you both see things from the same perspective which avoids conflict to strengthen your bond.

There are two parts of this book that resonated with me the most. One is vulnerability as a bridge builder. Vulnerability shows you trust them with your truth which is very powering. It is a great way to strengthen bonds. The term emotional regulation can improve a relationship because both people practice how to handle their trickers. For example, if your partner needs a little while to decompress after work, then their partner will know to give them that space. Overall, the best practice to building a healthy relationship is to keep the lines of communication open. This book is full of practical information to build and maintain a healthy connection. The exercise is an added bonus. I highly recommend this book to couples.
