About this listen

Reformed playboy Sloan Cartland doesn’t work that hard to live down his reputation, especially when it gives him an advantage as Northstar’s profiler. But when the company’s network is hacked, he puts on his game face and joins forces with the firm’s cyber queen Allison Richards to track down the cyberterrorist.

Sparks fly between the total opposites as Sloan moves past Allison’s geeky persona. The passion is unexpected but pleasurable, until Sloan receives evidence that implicates Allison as the hacker, compelling him to question her loyalty and his feelings.

Allison must choose between her heart and honor and find a way to use her formidable skills to turn the tables on her enemies before Sloan decides she’s a traitor.

Another suspense-filled romance from Northstar

The Northstar Security Series is fairly typical for this genre. It has all its boxes ticked. Alpha Male? check. Strong female protagonist? check. Sexual tension and chemistry? check. A suspenseful plot? check. It is worth noting, however, that this book, despite all the sexual tension, is surprisingly clean. It doesn't mean the book isn't action packed. In fact it moves at a steady pace, when required, and increase in velocity when appropriate too.

Charles Henderson Norman has a wonderfully deep narrating voice. I think he does a fabulous job portraying the male characters. He is able to use the depth of his voice to reflect the importance of the characters to the plot and strength of the characters' personalities. I just don't think his voice works as well for the female characters.

Overall this book is easy to listen to and enjoyable. It has its sweet moments offset by bursts of suspense and action.
