Summary

The new Lean In, from the multi-award-winning Founder and CEO of national non-profit Girls Who Code and New York Times bestselling author Reshma Saujani.

‘We are raising our boys to be brave, but our girls to be perfect. And this is holding us back.’

Imagine if you lived without the fear of failure, without the fear of not measuring up. If you no longer felt the need to stifle your thoughts and swallow what you really want to say in order to please and appease others. If you could stop berating yourself mercilessly for human mistakes, let go of the guilt and the strangling pressure to be perfect, and just breathe. What if, in every decision you faced, you made the brave choice or took the bolder path. Would you be happier? Would you impact the world in the ways you dream you can?

I believe the answer to both is yes.

Much needed call to action

This book was recommended by a friend and very glad she did. Not only is it thought provoking by the data and statistics but the real stories and practical advice helps rewire your brain and gets you out of your head. A former perfectionist this book really captures the struggle. it's grounded in Rish's own story and experience the advice is honest, smart and from a place of experience and maturity. love love love. like my dear friend, i too will be recommending it to others.

Empowering

The idea isn't revolutionary but it is very powerful. I wish I had listened to this in my twenties. I would have handled a few situations very differently. Really inspiring nonetheless, for me but also as I raise a young daughter.

I appreciate the sentiment, nothing grounbreaking for me though.

perhaps I was looking for something else, though I enjoyed the odd reminder from this book I didn't find anything grounbreaking to help me be brave. I did enjoy the authors personal anecdotes and tales of women being brave.
