About this listen
A new steamy second chance hockey romcom standalone!
There’s absolutely no way I’d ever work for my ex-boyfriend. Besides, the only thing he needs help with is pulling the stick from his perfectly sculpted backside.
Gordon Benson is the one man I never wanted to see again. He’s grumpy, antagonistic, and so irritatingly more attractive than he was 12 years ago. Those biceps, that muscular chest, those dark green eyes that still manage to get me all twisted up…it’s not fair.
I broke up with him. He demolished my heart. End of story.
Or at least it was until I ran into him after a figure skating gig. And then his sister offered me a job as their executive assistant—a job I didn’t need until the company I worked for went bankrupt.
So, here I am, selling my soul to the actual Devil to make sure me and my daughter are taken care of. The daughter who shares his DNA and yet he acts like she doesn’t exist. I keep telling myself this job is only temporary, that I’ll find something else, but the more I stay here, the more the Nashville Devils feel like family.
And maybe there’s more to Gordon than insults and a prickly exterior. Maybe he’s not quite the villain I made him out to be but there’s still too much at stake. He could lose his hockey team and I could lose the only thing I have left. My heart.

Great Story & Narration🎧Gripping & Heartfelt!
Melissa Ivers pens another terrific novel set in her “Nashville Devils” series, a sports second chance romance that captivates your attentions and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. This fifth book of the series is Riley Adams’ and Gordon Benson’s story and their story stands on its own. Gordon and Riley were high school sweethearts, both had dreams that took place on the ice, he as a hockey player, and she a figure skater. But they wound up breaking up just before his hockey career took off, and were both under the impression the other ended their relationship, thanks to his manipulative and controlling father. They had not seen each other in years, and when they do there was a lot of angst and unresolved feelings. When Riley loses her job it was Jazz, Gordon’s sister, who offered to help her find a new job, though she never thought it would be a job working the Devil’s organization, one she did not plan on taking, except there were no other jobs around, and as a single mom she needed the job. Jazz was on to something with these two, and it was great to watch them go at each other, with misconceptions of the past, and then after they learn the truth about what really happened. My heart broke for them, and the time they lost, but I was happy they made their way back to each other. I was also happy that Gordon and Jazz, got the last laugh with their father’s friend. This is so much more than a second chance romance, and I loved the layers of the story and how it all played out with the perfect balance of drama, angst, some witty banter and dialogue to lighten things up, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Melissa Ivers, thank you for another terrific story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Alan Stone and Kristie Lee Walsh did a great job bringing these characters to life, understanding who they were portraying, giving each a voice that fit their personality and demeanor perfectly. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two made a great narration team, with voices and talent that complemented each other and a performance that elevates the story to another level. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

bossy
loved the narration of Alan Stone and Kristie Lee Walsh
Riley is a former figure skater, who wanted to go to the Olympics but that dream stopped when she became a single mother and legal guardianship of her little sister.
Before he owned the Nashville Devils, Gordon had been drafted by the NHL, until he had an injury that forced him to quit playing.
Riley and Gordon were high school sweethearts until both had broken each other hearts. But unknown to him she had been pregnant with his his child Max. Now twelve years later they find themselves working together. Even though they hate each other the chemistry is still hot.
This book has the right amount of angst, humour, chemistry and heat with great secondary characters,

4/5
This is my first book by Melissa Ivers (I think) and the fifth book in the Nashville Devils series. Bossy Devil was fun - funny, sweet and steamy at times. I had no problem following along with this story and would love to go back and read the previous books. The characters were…characters with unique personalities that made them stand out. And while i wasn’t sure if Melissa Ivers could redeem Gordon she did a great job with turning him around to being more likable.
I received this audiobook for free from Pink Flamingo Productions. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Grumpy Boss
Absolutely loved this book and this trope of the second chance gets me all the time. Gordon and Riley were high school sweethearts but circumstances tore them apart. Years later they are reunited and the spark is still there and now working together.
