Critic reviews

"Exciting, pacey, vivid and humane. Read it." (Lesley Glaister)
"The descriptions of the setting, Yorkshire at its bleakest, the characters, were so subtly slipped in that I absorbed them subliminally.... I am now reading this excellent book again." (Shotsmag.co.uk)

can't wait for the next one

I have really enjoyed reading these first two books in the Sean Denton series. Very refreshing locations and well written stories that flow well with unexpected twists and turns . I feel that I am already getting to know the main characters who are quite different to the usual whodunit crime fighters.
Thought the narrator did a great job bringing the different characters to life.
I am a big fan of series of books with the same characters having previously been through Ruth Rendell, Colin Dexter, Peter James and Peter Robinson and I truly believe that this series could be as good as those...

Another magnificent book by Helen

This book starts as it means to go on...fast paced on the edge of your seat and thrilling. I advise you to read Helens other book first...to catch a rabbit. ..as it's the start of what I hope is a series about Sean Denton.

Once again Jonathan Keeble does an incredible job as the narrator. This man knows how to read stories out loud.

I finished this in 24 hours. I just couldn't put it down and listened to it whilst working, walking my dog and forfeited an evening of tv to continue with this book.

A fantastic author.

Loved this as much as the first Sean Denton book

Would you listen to Bones in the Nest again? Why?

Yes I would because I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gosh hard question. All the characters are so well written I couldn't pick out one in particular.

What about Jonathan Keeble’s performance did you like?

I love listening to books narrated by Jonathan Keeble, I first heard him narrating LJ Ross's series of Inspector Ryan books and felt his voice set the tone perfectly.

Any additional comments?

Sean Denton is back and has now become a fully fledged police constable. He has a new partner, Gavin, but we still have characters from the first novel. Lizzy, his love interest is back from a sojourn to London. A killer has been released from prison on probation, she is said to have killed a young man on the Chasebridge Estate ten years previously. The first half of the book is set both in Doncaster, following Sean Denton, and in York where we get an insight into the life of the newly released prison 'Chloe'. Shortly after her release a murder is committed in one of the tower blocks on the same estate. Once again this is paced perfectly and the story is woven with skill and precision. The twist is excellent and unexpected. Most enjoyable. Terribly sad to think there is only one more in the pipeline as Helen Cadbury sadly passed away this year.

growing on me.

I chose this series based on Jonathon Keeble narrating. However, Sean Denton is now growing on me. Sean is a likable man. The urge is to slap him with a tea cloth but you also want him to succeed. I'm about to start race to the kill.

Easy listening

I picked this book based on the narrator. As always Jonathan Keeble is brilliant at bringing a story and it’s characters to life. Overall a sometimes predictable storyline but nonetheless a good, easy listen
