A new crime thriller from the Queen of Fear - prepare to be terrified by Bonehead . . .
PRAISE FOR BONEHEAD:
'As shocking and sinister as anything Hayder has written. It is an unexpected, bittersweet treat to be back in the hands of one of our very best crime writers' Observer
'Hayder was one of the UK's most accomplished crime writers, and her final book, Bonehead, proves to be among her most memorable' Financial Times
'Bonehead is a triumph, with Mo Hayder's customary sleight of hand, attention to detail, and brilliantly authentic character creation. It perfectly wraps urban myths within the frailty of men's follies, and weaves a tale that unfolds piece by piece until you can bear it no more and rush through to the final, extraordinary pages. If this had to be Mo Hayder's legacy, then it's a fitting one. I inhaled this book' Helen Fields, author of The Institution
'Deliciously dark and horrifying, perfectly balanced and plotted. Stayed with me long after I'd finished reading' Catherine Cooper, author of The Chalet
'A rivetingly dark read; I was sucked in by its python-like coils and taken somewhere very dark; I ended up racing to the end, knowing something terrible was coming. A powerful story with memorably characters, not least the glowering forest, and a terrific back story' Jane Shemilt, bestselling author of Daughter
'Mo Hayder's final hurrah is truly chilling, a dark and gripping read that left me guessing at every turn. I'm privileged to have received this very special read' Natalie Chandler, author of What We Did
'This is everything you expect from a Mo Hayder: a little bit weird, a little bit nasty, with characters you love from the off. Creepy as hell. And an ending that made my blood run cold' Sam Holland, author of The Echo Man

Abandon hope all those who enter here.
Clasic Mo Hayder, wonderfully written with richly drawn characters and utterly devoid of any hope or happiness. Every thing is rotten and no one gets away clean.

The revelation and the horror of mankind's dark souls
Mo Hayder's work has always gripped my imagination and intrigue. Bonehead certainly kept my thoughts and curiosity piqued. It was totally riveting. Mo Hayder's passing has left a huge hole in the genre of suspense/horror/psychological thrillers.

Not as good as Jack Caffrey
Love Mo Hayder and her style of writing. Just didn’t find this one as clever as her previous books. So very sad it will be her last. What a loss; a very clever lady.

Another cracking story
All the other Mo Hayder novels I have listened to were narrated by men so I was wary of a new narrative style but I needn't have been. The narration was perfect with good accents and no over-hammering of the more active scenes. I would say the story was less brutal than some previous novels and I enjoyed it just as much as the others. I recommend it to any Hayder fan.

Last piece from this author
I love Mo Hayder's books and listened to this one in a couple of days. Whilst it might not be my number 1 from her collection it is definitely worth a read. It also make me really sad there will be no more books from this phenomenal author.

Great book!
Bonehead, penned by the acclaimed author Mo Hayder, is a gripping addition to the suspense and horror genres. Known for her ability to weave chilling narratives, Hayder once again delivers a story that captivates and terrifies in equal measure. The plot of Bonehead is a testament to Hayder’s mastery in creating tension and dread. As the story unfolds, listeners are drawn into a dark and intricate tale, where every chapter builds upon the last, leading to a crescendo of suspense that is both thrilling and haunting. While avoiding spoilers, it's safe to say that the book delves into themes of fear, human frailty, and the macabre, all hallmarks of Hayder's storytelling prowess. One of the standout features of this book is its narrative style. The storytelling is seamless, with a pace that keeps listeners on the edge of their seats. The audiobook format, in particular, enhances this experience, making it nearly impossible to stop listening. The narrator’s performance adds an additional layer of immersion, bringing the characters and their chilling predicaments to life in a way that is both vivid and spine-tingling.The characters in Bonehead are well-developed, each with their own intricacies and depth. They are not mere participants in the story but are integral to the building tension and horror. Hayder excels at making her characters relatable, even as they navigate through extraordinary and terrifying circumstances. This connection to the characters heightens the impact of the narrative, making the stakes feel all the more real and urgent. What I particularly appreciated about Bonehead is how it stays true to Mo Hayder's style—dark, suspenseful, and thoroughly engaging. The plot twists are unexpected, and the atmosphere is palpably eerie, a testament to Hayder's skill in crafting horror fiction that lingers long after the final chapter. However, as much as I enjoyed the narrative, Bonehead might not be for everyone. The intense suspense and horror elements could be overwhelming for those who prefer lighter reads. But for fans of the genre, and of Mo Hayder's previous works, this book is a must-listen.In conclusion, Bonehead by Mo Hayder is a masterfully written tale that showcases why she is a formidable name in horror and suspense. The narrative is compelling, the characters are deeply engaging, and the audiobook format only amplifies the chilling experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a story that will keep them hooked and thoroughly spooked from start to finish.

Disappointed
I was really looking forward to listening to this as I’ve loved Mo Hayders other books - unfortunately I found the storyline to be predictable, none of the twisty turns I was hoping for and the main character was annoying - sorry Mo

The queen of your deepest fears.
What a surprise to find there was a final novel to be savoured from the late, great Mo Hayder. She has never given us an easy ride, and this is certainly no exception. Discomforting, beautifully written, dark and relentless. Oh, we are going to miss her.
