About this listen
Winner of the RNA Romantic Saga Award 2021
An inspiring and uplifting tale of women on the home front. For fans of Annie Groves and Nancy Revell.
On the ground, the crowd of men stood with their mouths agape, watching the wings soar into the air, the tail kept impressively steady and the small plane with a woman at the controls disappearing into the May sunshine.
It's 1942 and Bobby Hollis has joined the Air Transport Auxiliary in a team known as the 'glamour girls' - amazing women who pilot aircraft all around the country.
Bobby always wanted to escape life on the family farm and the ATA seemed like the perfect opportunity for her. But there's always something standing in her way. Like a demanding father, who wants to marry her off to a rich man. And the family secrets that threaten to engulf everything.
As Bobby navigates her way through life, and love, she has to learn that controlling a huge, four-engined bomber might just be easier than controlling her own life . . .

I loved them all
I've now read all these books and loved them all!! Beautifully written wonderful stories. The narrator was brilliant, just glad she didn't try the Norfolk accent ... I'm from Norfolk and know it's a difficult one, haha. I love the fact that it's based on truth and such a delightful reminder that we women were amazing in WWII. Thank you

Loved this!
If I had been reading it I wouldn’t have put it down. Listened to it in 2 days, loved learning even more about the tricks and “hacks” that they used, along with raw descriptions mixed with empowering women and of course romance. Downloaded without hesitation after listening to Lilys War and can’t wait to get Hannah’s war next!

Gripping
I don’t think this book is necessarily being marketed at men in their 30s like me, but I was absolutely gripped by the storytelling.
It really brought home what life might have been like for ordinary people during that time. Highly recommended.
